I know the monster guys have no chance at getting her, so if I stay with her I'll be safe. That's probably why she went back this way. Cori stood by neutrally. Piper had flushed bright red and was visibly biting her lip to resist calling out the lie.

New girl went back the way they had come, swinging her hips merrily. "Jess, wait for me! Jess?"

"Are we assholes? I'm afraid that we're assholes for that move" said Piper, still looking guilty.

"I'm sure she'll be fine" said Cori,.

New girl's calls ended abruptly in a startled yelp, followed by silence.

"Full disclosure: I had a feeling there was a monster following us and this seemed like a good way to cover our rear" said Sam.

"By giving up her's?" replied Piper.

Sam shrugged. "Would you have preferred to bring her with us? We need every advantage we can get, and I for one didn't come here to be a monster sex toy." She cocked her paintball gun and carefully headed down the stairs into the large room.

Piper sighed. "Yeah, I guess you are right" she said, following behind.
