I think i should back up a little here, to just slightly before the kiss.

My mind was racing, which really hurt with my head hurting like it did.

'This is it. I'm finally about to kiss Shana. It sucks i have to focus on my own reaction instead of on her, but it has to be done. I need to know, and so does she.'

Our lips met, moving in slow, probably amateurish moves. Amateur or not, it still felt like nothing else. The first few seconds, the experiment flew out the window. Luckily it lasted longer than a few seconds. Have you ever felt doubts melt? I have, and i don't miss them. That show i watched with the thing about first kisses was right. I guess Discovery Health channel is good for something, after all.

She pulled away, smiling.

"Well, did you feel it?"

'....what?'

"The love, stupid!"

'yeah. i'm pretty sure i did.'

She looked like she was about to tear up, but caught herself. "You're pretty sure?"

'hey, you only said you were pretty sure about loving me, too.'

"I know."

'so, i guess now we're pretty sure we're in love, huh?'

"I guess so. Oh, my god, we're probably in love!" She put her head in her hands laughing, then looked back up. "This is so cliche, two childhood friends ending up in love! If the world really is a stage, then whoever's writing our lives is such a hack."

'i thought the playwright of life was circumstance.'

"Well, circumstance needs to take a writing class."

'i dunno. i kinda like how this story turned out.'

Shana kissed me again, this time only for a second. "Me too." She stood up and started to leave.

'where're you goin'?'

She turned with a smile and wink. "I gotta go make some soup for my man."
