yes but not till later

As i pull into the driveway and just happy that the first day of school is done and I didn't have to do anything like homework or worry about any of the syllabuses because I already had everything done and ready for anything that popped up for any of the classes I took. I stop the car and put it in park before grabbing my back pack and opening the drivers side door and taking the keys out and putting them into my pocket and locking the doors to the car before heading inside the house and forgetting to lock the front door and heading up the stairs and throwing my back pack into the corner of my room before closing the door of my room starting up my computer and opening up youtube to just watch videos and relax for the next couple of hours before my mother got home from the bank and my father came back from whatever lawyer stuff he was doing that required him to get out of the house before I was even up in the morning. But I digress.

I cue up the first video of my free time and just get going on just watching the video and playing some type of game on my phone. For the next hour or so i'm just doing that when I hear someone knocking on the front door. I get up and head downstairs to see who it is."Who the hell is knocking on the door right now. I swear if it is either mom's or dad's friends to try and see them or if mom or dad want one of them to babysit me i'm closing the door right in front of their face and not answering any calls from either of them." I tell myself quietly before making it to the door and looking out a tiny peep hole that is on the door to see who it is. I'm surprised by who it is."Lindsey?" I silently say to myself before opening the door to see her I notice that she is wearing a bright pink shirt with a heart in the middle of it that is a dark read and some short shorts, her brunette hair is up in a ponytail and her blue eyes are sparkling. When I open the door she smiles at me and then frowns. "I didn't get to finish what I was telling you this morning so I guess I get to say it now." I turn to the side and allow her to come inside which she does and she goes into the living room and sits down on the couch after taking off her shoes.

I just kinda look confused for a second before following after her and before sitting down I remember to ask her. " do you want anything to drink?" She just look at me for a second before responding." No i' fine but if you need anything to drink hurry up and get back here or i'll come find you and sit you down myself to tell you what I have to say." I look at her before quickly going into the kitchen and getting myself a glass of ice water and going and sitting on one of the chairs next to the couch and getting a coaster before setting my drink down on it and looking at her." Neil I know what happened today in the bathroom those to goons can't keep their mouths shut for anything. Before you say anything I also know what happened at the end of the year last year with you getting a broken leg and arm." I just nod along sadly before looking at her. "Did no one tell you about the concussion they gave me?" she looks at me surprised." They gave you a concussion?" I just nod before looking down." Yeah because of those two I had to miss out on the final few games of the rugby season and those two jack asses never had anything happen to them."

She looks shocked."Neil why have you never tried to report them?"."because who would have believed me the principal no. he would have just laughed at me and they would have just gotten a slap on the wrist like a one day suspension and nothing would have ever been done. There was no proof besides my word against there's oh and Cassidy's and Abagail's the so called never done anything wrong girls." I just look down and feel a tear staring to fall. Lindsey looks at me before saying."Neil I know there is nothing I can do to make up for the last few years to make up for all the shit I put you through. Even if it wasn't anything compared to the others but I never did want to tease you like that." she smiles at me."I know this may sound like utter bullshit but you will always be my best friend because you were the one who has always been there from kindergarten all the way to sixth grade when we were separated in cliques, and I know I could have come over at times where I knew no one was around but I know that I was in to deep to ever even think about that." She looks at me with a twinkle in her eyes.

"I Know that I don't think I have been the same since you stopped coming over and you started to hang out with Abagail and Cassidy. What hurt the most was the teasing. But there was one thing that I always did say to myself is that if you ever did try to apologize I would accept the apology and I know that at this moment that you will go back to the popular clique and I know that from that you will probably have to tease me again but I will forgive you." She smiles at me and gets up and leans over the chair i'm sitting in and hugs me. I feel water come down the back of my shirt and I don't realize it for a moment but then I realize she is crying._ _I wrap my arms around her back and start to stroke her back hey lind's its okay I know you never truly meant it." she just snorts a little and keeps on crying. I keep the hug going and stand up so that it doesn't hurt her back anymore. After a few minutes more of the crying she pulls back and her eyes are red and puffy and she has snot running down her nose. " I'll be back in a second." I tell her and get up and go to the kitchen and get some paper towels and coming back out and sees that she has sat back down on the couch. I sit down next to her and give her the paper towel which she accepts and wipes her nose before blowing her nose. "Lind's i'm glad you decided to apologize it has been a long few years without one of my best friend." She smiles and I see her eyes light up. She leans over again and hugs me. "You don't understand how long its been since i've been able to talk to my best doctor pal." I just smile and look at her." Its been a long time since i've heard that nickname." I tell her." Well yeah of course it has the last time we said something like that to each other was when we were in fifth grade and decided on what type of doctors we want to become and that we were going to work in the same type of area and in the same office or building." She blows her nose again before looking at me again."Neil can we go back to the way it used to be as us as best friends?" my whole face lights up and hug her." I was hoping that one day that you would say that."

She just smiles and her eyes look into mine and I see the sparkle in them that I hadn't seen directed to me in years."We are going to be friends for a while after this aren't we?" she asks." Yes I always want my best friend with me for as long as humanly possibly." we look at each other and smile. "Now are you staying here our are you going to go back home to do whatever it is that teenage girls do these day?" I raise my eyebrows suggestively and she smacks me on the shoulder."Now,Now do go getting ideas like that." she tells me."Okay,okay." I held up my hands in surrender.She stops and looks at me and tells me."No I don't think I will go home because I just got my old best friend back and I want to hang out with him." She leans into my side and looks up at me. I smile take a drink of water from the ice water I got earlier that had most of the ice missing. I grab the Tv remote and turn it on and turn on the Xbox and sign in and going to Netflix and let her decide on a movie.After she decides a movie I get a blanket and drape it over the both of us and the movie starts she curls into my side and after only a few minutes of watching the movie and being in a warm environment she falls asleep. No I don't take advantage of her you sickos.

I smile and pause the movie and just kinda sit there before trying to concentrate on her to see if I can see what she is thinking. Yes you could say I did take advantage of her in another way but hey I didn't **** her at least. So after concentrating I look into her mind and see what she is dreaming about.

"lind's darling its time to go or the kids will be late to school."Neil yells up the stairs at me and I Just kinda smile thinking about how even though that for close to six years we barely talked to each other that after college and then med school we were able to get married and have a son and daughter and successful careers him in peds and I in ophthalmology. I couldn't help but be any happier than how happy I am right now.

before I could go any deeper into her dream someone shakes my concentration by shaking my shoulder."Neil is that lindsey?" my mother stares down at me. I look up at her and just smile and nod. She just smiles down at me and nods."I always knew you two would be perfect together and now that I see it I know that I was correct." I just smile and nod with her before asking what time it is." Its around six o'clock." I look in surprise."How has it already been close to four hours since we sat down here?" my mom just looks at me and shrugs her shoulders."Wake her up and see if she wants to eat dinner with us and then we will go from there got it?" I nod my head yes as she walks away. I look down at lindsey who is much smaller than me probably only around 5'8 to my nearly 6'0 tall frame. I start by shaking her lightly which she just kinda moans to then after a little more violent shaking she wakes up kinda groggy."Hey sleepyhead how was you nap?Have any good dreams?" I ask. She just smiles and looks up me."I had some amazing dreams and the nap was awesome". she looks outside and sees the sun."What time is it?"."Around six why?". I ask her."I was just kinda wondering how long had I been asleep for."

I smile at down at her."Well little lady it has been so long that my mother is home and she wants to know whether or not you would like to stay for dinner?" She looks up at me with periwinkle blue eyes and smiles."I would love to stay and have dinner with you as long as your mother is making it." I take the blanket off of us and then get up and offer her my hand. "Here m'lady have a hand from your lowest servant." I say to her mockingly. she smacks me lightly on the shoulder."Cut it out you idiot before I smack you harder." She raises her hand threateningly and I just hold my hands up in surrender and laugh."Is the bathroom still right down the hall?". she asks."Yeah and then you still know where the kitchen is right?". she looks at me and nods before heading off to the rest room to clean herself up.

I Just smile before I head out into the kitchen where my mother turns around and just looks at me."I heard everything and I gotta say you are a big idiot." she tells me before she starts chuckling to herself. I just look at her incredulously but snap out of it quickly and set the table for the three of us since I know that my father won't be home for at least a few more hours. When Lindsey finally gets back she has put all her loose hair back into the pony tail and has fixed up her crooked shirt and shorts. She sighs and sits down."What do you want to drink?" I ask her."I Just want some ice tea please." I look at her and laugh a little to myself."I knew you were going to say that.". I walk away from the table and her and then go and get two more glasses and fill one with ice tea and the other with some milk.I carry both of the glasses back to the table and put one glass in front of her and the other glass in front of me. I move back away from her and bring back a plate of chicken and some mac and cheese for the both of us and put it down in front of her and then down on my seat when my mother finally sits down with a glass of coke a cola.

We say a little prayer and then start to eat. I smile a little bit and under the table I put my foot right next to Lindsey's and smile at her. She just looks up at me and puts her other foot on the other side to surround my foot. My mother like between the two of us and just smiles and says."Lindsey i'm so glad to see you back in this house ever since you left I don't think that Neil has ever been the same since you stopped coming by." Lindsey just looks down and blush." I don't think that I've been the same since I have stopped being over here either." she looks up and the blush is still on her face. I just wink at her Which make her blush even more. I just smile and the rest of dinner is just small talk as my mom asks Lindsey different questions about her last few years of school.When finally everyone was done and all the dishes were in the sink Lindsey went and got here shoes and comes back and hugs me. I hug her back and get a little surprise when she gets up on her tip toes and kisses me on the cheek before quickly getting out of the hug and running out of the door and onto home. I just kinda stand there for a second and blush before turning around and seeing my mother standing there smiling.

"I'm glad she finally decided to come over and get back to talking to you. Now what is that stuff I see around your eyes?" I look away quickly."Nothing mom I promise you know i'm going to go to bed now." I say quickly well running up the stairs and into my room. After turning off my laptop and go into the bathroom and brush my teeth and go number 1 before i come out of the bathroom and get into bed before falling asleep.
