wait by the exit for my ride

I decided to wait by the exit for my ride. I figured as hard as it would be for someone to find me, the least I could do was wait by the exit and be as visible as possible. I grabbed my backpack and walked over to the exit to wait.

As soon as I got to the main exit, I just sort of reclined against the door and waited. I had no idea who I would be looking for and I didn't really know how long I'd have to wait, so I started rummaging around in my backpack (the only luggage I'd brought) for something to occupy my time. Really all I had in there was my clothes, toiletries and a few books. I picked up my copy of "The Wall" by John Hersey and started reading. I'd just about finished reading the first chapter when a voice interrupted my thoughts.
