For a moment, Link didn't find anything at fault with what Fi had told her, but only for a moment. While despair swept through her emotions like a tidal wave, Link's voice remained robotic as she spoke. "Master, do you not recall that yesterday I used the Crossbow of Souls to switch our two bodies, and that only through mutual understanding can we be returned? Has the spell caused you to forget that it was originally you who wore this body, not me?"

The smirk that Fi gave Link at that moment was a knowing one, and he replied that few would actually believe that story, especially from a crazy sword spirit. Not only that, but if it were true, why would he want to become her again? As Link, he was able to really feel and express emotions, to enjoy himself, to live. As Fi, all he had ever been was an assistant, trapped and muffled behind orders and spells.

Link narrowed her eyes, then told Fi pointedly, "We already told Impa all about the Crossbow, Master. She'll be able to tell if we haven't switched back." Link took a deep breath, more for effect than anything, as she currently did not breathe. "I understand why you are tempted to remain in my previous body. Living as you do...it is difficult. I am bound to remain loyal, accurate, and precise. I believe, that while I was in my own body, and you in yours, I treated you unfairly sometimes, or complained about your assistance. I apologize for that. You are a hardworking, capable, wonderful partner, and I love you very much."
