pheremones

"Isn't the pheremone study about to begin?" you ask.

"Oh, yes, slipped my mind!" said Kate blushing. She switched on a large flatscreen TV monitor.

The monitor showed a live feed from a wating room. In the room were two couches on opposite walls. A girl sat on one, and a boy on the other. They were both filling out forms on clipboards.

"The girl," said Kate, moving a toggle switch and zooming in on the girl. "Is Claire Rabourn, 21 years old."

You study the girl. She is gorgeous. She has thick, straight sandy blonde hair with honey blonde highlights, great cheekbones, a long straight nose, green eyes, and full lips. Even though she's seated, you can tell she's at least 5'10. She's wearing a khaki, knee-lenght skirt, brown heels, and a blue short sleeve sweater over her firm C-cups. "She looks familiar," you say.

"This year's homecoming queen," says Kate. "Really nice girl, heavily involved in charity in the local baptist student chapter. Delta Kappa Delta member. Senior English major and plans to go to law school.

"And the boy?" you ask.

Kate zooms in on the boy. He's at least 6'0, but probably no more than 145 lbs. He has limp black hair, a big nose, and a scruffy goattee. He's wearing faded jeans that are a bit too short, black tennis shoes, and black t-shirt.

"Jerry Reynolds, 18 freshman physics major. Shy and reclusive. No extra-curricular activities. VERY smart."

"And the pheremones?" you ask.

"In his water. He's been sipping on it." Kate zooms in a bottle of water on the end table near the couch the boy is on. "We kept them waiting in a very dry room. Amanda tried to engage Jerry in coversation, but he just answere in monosyllables. Then we gave them the water and had them fill out forms that are just routine questions about psychology and science. The pheremones should react with his body chemistry and kick in..." Kate looks at her watch, "any minute now."

You watch the room as Kate zooms out. Soon Amanda keeps looking up at Jerry and shifting on her couch. Jerry keeps taking sips of water and focusing on his survey.
