in the abyss

I looked back one last time towards my light and steeled my resolve. Then I headed into the darkness.

I do not know how far I walked, or if I ever stopped walking. Calling it walking itself was wrong, there was no ground. And yet i could move forward. There was nothing but darkness. Soon it engulfed me, seeped into my very core. I couldn't touch my body anymore, nor hear my voice. My senses slowly disappeared. I was alone, but perhaps this was always the case.

How long do I need to keep this up? I don't know. But I made my choice. There is no turning back.
