guilt

I looked around the room from the sofa and the moment I caught Claires eye felt a pang of guilt. I don't know why, and I didn't know what to do apart form scoop up my clothes and leave. I headed through the kitchen towards the garden, collecting a beer on the way. I started to get dressed in the garden and realised I had left my t shirt somewhere, so sat topless on a garden chair and swigged my beer. It was pretty cold, so I was quite pleased when someone brought it out. I was less pleased that it was Claire.

She offered me a cigarette which I took despite not being a smoker, I felt it might help take away the awkwardness of the whole thing. The silence seemed to last forever until Claire finally spoke.

"So, looked like you had fun"

"I wasn't the only one" I replied, glancing at her as she blushed.

"well, it was pretty unexpected."

More silence. before the question I dreaded.

"What's going on with you? What about Tara? That was some pretty **** cheating. And the way things were going I thought you wanted me tonight, I'm kinda glad it didn't happen"

"I dunno" I mumbled back and took a drag of my cigarette. I looked round at her and all I could think of was how she looked watching me fuck Racheal. I tried to think of something else so went back to staring at my beer.

"Did you actually want me tonight or was you just after any pussy going?" she asked.

"It wasn't what it looked like, it's complicated" We sat in silence until we were finished smoking and Claire got up to leave, but her escape was blocked by Beth running outside.

"Oh my god thank you so much!" she shouted as she grabbed hold of me and kissed me on the lips. "I owe you big time for that Marcus, I'll make it up to you some time but Nathan is about to have sloppy seconds and I'm going to make the most of this" And then she was gone again.

I slumped back into my chair and took another swig before noticing Claire was still stood watching me. I looked into her eyes and knew she had more to say.

"You have some explaining to do. Come on, tell me how and why you ended up fucking Racheal in front of everyone for Beths amusement"
