further embarassment

Diana spent her ride in the elevator fuming. First she was making a fool of herself, and to make it worse, Steve was fawning all over that intern, who seemed to be perfect.

She got to her car, and when she sat in her car, her skirt rode up. She had to arch her back to get her butt off of the seat and pull her skirt back down while she cursed to herself.

She drove to the front of the building. Candace was there waiting patiently. Candace was wearing black slacks and a matching blazer over a gray blouse.

Candace got into Diana's car.

On the way to the address, Candace and Diana shared an awkard silence. Diana broke the silence. "So what got you into this line of work?"

"I craved excitement all of my life. I started surfing and snowboarding before i was 10 years old, I was captain of my highschool swim and fencing teams, and in college I continued both of those while maintaining a 4.0 average."

"Well, goody for you!" thought Diana, trying not to sneer.

"They came and recruited me, and I couldn't say no."

"Well, Steve certainly thinks highly of you."

"Oh, he's the best. I'm suprised you haven't sought promotion."

"Why's that?"

"Well, most people do when they...well, you know...."

"What?" said Diana trying not to clench her teeth.

"You know, past...some people get tired of field work after a while."

"Are you saying I'm too old?" said Diana curtly.

"Oh, no no," said Candance.

The two spent the rest of the ride in silence. At the address, they found an abandoned movie theater from the 1950s. There was a 10 foot fence around it topped with razor wire. The building was alone on a block where the other buidlings had been torn down.

"Quite a fence to protect an abandoned building," said Candace.

Diana did not respond. She drove around the block. The fence only had one gate, and it was padlocked. Diana pulled over down then street. She looked in her back seat then sighed. She got out of her car.

Getting out of her car caused her skirt to hike up again. She cursed and pulled it down. She went to her trunk and opened it. She cursed again. She looked up and saw Candance had come around the other side of the car.

"What is it?" asked Candance.

"I don't have my binoculars!" said Diana as she slammed the trunk.

Candance reached into her purse and pulled out a small metal telescope. She pulled it open and handed it to Diana.

"Thanks!" muttered Diana angrily. Diana scanned the building but saw nothing odd. She handed the telescope to Candance.

"See anything?"

"No, nothing that screams out 'secret hideout!'"

Candance scanned the building herself. "This is interesting," she said.

"What?"

The side door is free of grafitti, dirt, and grime. It's spotless. Not even a scratch. Why is there a new door on an old abandoned building."

"Fuck me!" Diana cursed herself for not noticing that.

Candance looked at Diana. "You're clearly dressed for further field work today, so why not head back and see if we can come back tonight?"

"Fine," said Diana. She went back to the driver's side door. As she got into the car, she heard another rip. She had burst the seam on the back of her skirt.

"FUUUUCCKKKK!" she cried out in uncharacteristicly uncontrolled outburst.

"It's OK," said Candance. "Let's go back to your place and get a new outfit. I'll call in and give a status update.

Diana calmed herself down. As she drove, she heard Candace tell Steve, Diana had ripped another skirt.

"You didn't have to tell him THAT" she sneered.

She drove back to headquarters instead of home. "Tell Steve, I'm taking the rest of the day off!" She sped off barely giving Candace time to close the door.

"Wonder Woman will call on the movie theater tonight to check it out!" thought Diana.

On the way home, Diana stopped at a drive through and got a four piece fried chicken meal with mashed potatoes and cole slaw and a large cola. She at two pieces of chicken on the way home and the rest when she got home.
