exasperated

the two girls expected a few different reactions from the professor. the expected shock, intrigue, or even confusion. what they did not expect was for Babbling to cover her face with her hands before dropping her head down on the table. listen closely they could hear her mutter a few curses under her breath.

looking at each other Daphne motioned for daisy to go ahead. "Um professor, do you know this thing," asked Daisy.

"Know it I made it," she said. "a Muggle born friend had dragged me to a muggle movie and I got the idea of making a robot with magic."

"Why did you abandon it," asked Daphne.

"For one it was just a fun passion project," said Babbling with a laugh. "And two was that I wanted it to be a guardian robot. its job was to catch intruders and bring them to a holding area."

"It does the capture part pretty well," muttered Daisy under her breath. Babbling still heard her and smirked.

"Ah I see you have already seen that function," she said with a laugh. "The problem is that it would then keep the prisoner unless ordered to release them. it will also use them as a shield if attacked by a spell. another problem is that it takes a lot of magic to get in running. for it to work for even a few minutes it had to take in a large amount of Ambiant magic in the area. outside of Hogwarts and a few other magic rich areas it would never work."

"Ah so that is why it has the magic absorption runes," said Daphne.

"Correct I was quite proud of that when I made it," she said.

"Is that how you made the rope as well," asked Daisy curious about the magic draining ropes.

"Well, I had to set up a magic circle with that rune and a few others while leaving coils of rope in it. after a few days they gained that blue hue and draining property. the idea was the rope to drain the captive of their magic and use it to keep it at full charge. never could get the transfer to happen properly. only about one percent of the stolen magic went to the robot. the rest just made the rope resistant to damage," she explained.

"Even then it is still amazing Professor," said Daphne. "Did you ever publish it?"

"No, I did not think it was all that impressive at the time. it was just another feature on my robot," she said.

"You should consider it," said Daphne. "The process could be used by aurors to keep prisoners restrained."

"Maybe I will have to think about it," she said. "So, girls what is your plans for my old project."

"Well, we originally were bringing it to ask about some of the runes used," said Daphne. "But since it was yours do you want it back?"
