a change of perspective

‘This was just the way life was’ thought Jack. Jack was born to an unknown father and a prostitute who promptly abandoned him at an orphanage only to later die of **** poisoning. Jack had been given a rotten lot in life but he had made the most of it. As soon as Jack was old enough to leave the orphanage he got an apprenticeship as a blacksmith and slowly worked his way up the ladder. Jack had just turned 21 years old the month before. He also owns the blacksmith which he used to apprentice at when the old blacksmith died from the plague three summers ago. But none of that mattered to Jack. Right now all that mattered is what was going to happen to him now. Jack was in debt with some of the local tax collectors. Jack was good for the money but his tax collectors were not willing to wait any longer and if Jack didn't do something soon he would surely find himself six feet under.
