Zagreus, Witch-King of Astria

Zagreus began his conquests long before you where born, a powerful sorcerer who wielded magic on the field of battle to devastating effect. Slowly, surely he spread his rule, turning Astria from a small kingdom, to a the largest Empire the world has ever seen. It is said he found the secret to immortality along the way, and will have forever to reign over his realm, once he finishes forging it.

At first a coalition of nations, Careleon chief among them formed in hopes of defying the Witch-King. Peace treaties and political marriages only went so far however and in the end Careleon was left alone, the others defeated or surrendering in exchange for some modicum of power or retained independence. Yet your coming of age, and success on the battlefield gave your people new hope. Hope now dashed.

You've never seen the Witch King in person, but the tales paint a fearsome image of a man clad in all black calling down purple lightning and unleashing waves of green flame. Yet you've also heard tell of man of otherworldly beauty and grave from prisoners, a venerated lord and king they worship like a god.

As you start to awaken you suppose you'll learn the truth soon enough...
