Chapter 8 by si91 si91

What's next?

You wake up in a woman's arms

Eventually, you awaken. You are still a little dizzy from hitting your head, but otherwise, you've regained your senses.

The first thing you notice is the change in your surroundings. You are no longer on the road outside the Bloody Gate. In fact, you are not outside at all. You are indoors, and you are lying on a large, soft bed.

You quickly realize you are not alone, either. A pair of arms is wrapped around you. You slowly gaze upward, and you are staring into the eyes of a young woman. She appears to be in her early thirties, and she has auburn hair and red lips. There are a few wrinkles on her cheeks and forehead, but other than that, she has a very wonderful face. When she notices your eyes are open, she smiles and says "At last, you're awake."

Although your present circumstances are much preferable to what they were when you passed out, you cannot bring yourself to relax just yet. You have many questions, and you are not even certain what order you should be asking them in.

You decide to start with the most obvious one: "My lady... might I ask your name?"

Lady Lysa smiles at that. "My beloved uncle has the same name."

Indeed, Ser Brynden Tully - known as the Blackfish by some - was Lord Hoster's renowned younger brother. You heard somewhere that he had been Knight of the Bloody Gate for several years before he joined his other niece - Lady Catelyn Stark - in the War of the Five Kings.

That brings you to your next question: "Am I in the Eyrie?"

"You are," she confirms, "You are miles above the surface of the world. As long as you are here, you will be safe from the troubles outside."

You are relieved to hear that, but then you remember something important. You mutter worriedly "What about my horse, Aerion? What happened to him?"

"He is well," Lady Lysa assures you, "Of course, we could not bring him up here, but he is being tended to at the stables located at the base of the mountain."

"Thank the gods," you say. You were concerned that Aerion may have run away or gotten left outside the Bloody Gate. He is precious to you; he is your only true friend in the world.

"Have you any more questions?" Lady Lysa Arryn asks

"Just one," you respond, "Why am I here?"

At that, she looks you in the eye and answers you with
