Chapter 5

What is it that you notice?
You still need to get to work
The time on the top corner of your phone shows 9:15.
Sophie: "Oh shit I'm gonna get fired!"
At that moment you forget all about magical transformations and feline features - you got a house to pay for. So you stow away your tail down your pants and hide your ears under a pink woolly hat. You run out and catch the next shift of the bus, which thankfully runs exactly an hour later.
You work an office job for the Unlimited Dreams Ltd., a well-paying but strict employer in this particular city. Your favorite manager, Ms. Stacy Hinders, is awaiting for you.
Stacy: "Sophie, where in Hell's inglorious kiln have you been festering at?! I can't be assed to cover for employees who feel it's their civic duty to stay at home and take selfies or whatever. My superiors already got their gnarled claws tucked on my back, they're just vying to skin me alive, you hear?"
She really is your favorite manager, though only for her quirky way of speaking.
Sophie: "Chillax, please. There was a... bit of an issue with, uh, the alarm clock."
You really don't want people to know about your transformation yet. Not the least because it would be the most disingenuous-sounding excuse to miss work you could ever think of.
Stacy: "Ugh. There aren't enough hours in the day for me to be yelling at you. Get your stuff together, Sophie. Get it all together in a big pile on my desk before the end of today, and then I might consider reconciling and forgiving your absence."
Sophie: "Will do, boss!"
Stacy: "Get to work."
You hurry over to your cubicle, and spot an undue amount of undone forms and papers. Ugh.
Will you actually do your work?
