You start slowly

"Well... I'm just curious about you and Katie..." You manage to say, after a moment of thinking, and decide to try and avoid talking about the most spectacular part of what you've seen. "You're... a little more than just friends, right...?"

"Oh..." She whispers, and you notice her looking both relieved and worried at the same time. Eventually she nods though, but is much too embarrassed to meet your eyes. "Yeah, we were really tight once. More than just friends, as you say..."

"And you say that you're not so, right now...?" You ask her, with just a hint of sarcasm in your voice, that makes her glance up at you for a moment. You immediately regret what you've said though, as you can see how it pains her.

"We've... parted ways..." She finally manages to say, and you can tell that she's trying to figure just how much you know about them. "We... haven't met for a while though... And I think we needed to... catch up a bit..."

Her voice trails off again, and miserable looks makes you want to comfort her.

"That's okay." You tell her, with the best of your smiles, and wish that she'd been closer than on the opposite side of the table. "I think it's... quite beautiful, really..."

"Thanks." She gives you a weak smile in return, but you can tell that the truth weights heavilly on her slender shoulders. You know now that she loves you, or at least wants you to be sharing your bed, considering how she was calling your name during her scene with Katie. She's also afraid that you find out about her secret however, and most likely have some serious trouble about how to break it to you.

You'd want to let her know that you like her a lot as well, even though you're still unsure of your feelings regarding this secret, but feel like you can't just blurt it all out without risking to hurt your relation even more. It's a kind of stallmate, that you must somehow try and get out of...

"I am rather jealous of her..." You finally manage to say, which makes her glance back into your eyes again, with a curious look on her face. "Of Katie I mean...! If things were different I'd love to be her... with you..."

"That's..." Rachel doesn't seem to know what to say at first, and you can see her smiling even as she's on the verge of tears. "I... I'd like that too, John..."

The words remain in the air for a moment, and it looks like she's finally about to declare her love for you, but instead she suddenly gets up from the table and dash for the stairs. Her reaction catches you by surprise, though you can understand her as well, and you find yourself with yet another difficult choice to make...
