You return home for some normalcy

“I think I need to go home Alex… um… if that's ok with you” you say unsure why you added that last part but you definitely felt you needed to say it.

“But Josh we could have so much more fun with this power” she says as she gives you her puppy dog eyes, but she quickly returns to her normal look and says “fine, fine, i guess it is pretty late, I’ll drive you back to your car”.

It doesn’t take long for Alex to drop you off at your car and you to drive home. As you pull into the driveway the world definitely feels differently than the last time you were here. Your mind races with all that has happened and you don’t even realize your mom is approaching your car until she knocks on the window. “Josh do you know how late it is, why didn’t you call and say where you were, I trust you but this is ridiculous”.

You exhale exhausted from everything, you try to keep it quiet but your mom is super mom and she knows and senses all. “Oh Josh you look exhausted and don’t think i didn’t hear that exhale what’s wrong” she says as she ushers you inside realizing now is not the time to pester you because something is the matter.

“Mom I’ve just had a really strange day and I kinda just need some normalcy right now” you say.

“Ok normalcy I think I can do that” Your mom says as she hugs you from behind as you both enter into the house.

She smells like lilacs, you melt into her embrace and look into her beautiful gray blue eyes and long black hair that is tied up in a tight ponytail. The night progresses with your mother making you tea and you sit on the couch until way too early the next morning drinking tea and talking about inane topics from both of your lives and it just felt good to relish in the normal.
