You miss the bus

"Ow. Ow. Ow. Ow," you mutter with each downward step, pausing halfway down to contemplate going back up again. Determination fills you and you stubbornly make your way downwards, heavily regretting the heels you grabbed, feeling a little like someone's ripping off a band-aid with each step.

"Ow. Thank God," you breath out on the ground floor, moving far slower than an athletic girl of your age should. As a result you no sooner exit your building than you see the bus pulling away from the stop.

"Dammit, all that for nothing!" you curse, wanting to kick something, or start pacing, but instead hold yourself still to minimize the aches.

It crosses your mind that you could call Jacob to try and get a ride, but you're pretty sure he had something important this morning. He is the son of the mayor after all.

Pulling out your phone you contemplate your options. You couldn't afford a taxi and the next bus isn't for another twenty minutes if it's running on time by some miracle. Maybe you could call someone?

Flipping through your address book you note a few possibilities. There's those two nerds you'd been thinking of approaching for tutoring - they've been ogling you every chance they got, but even though you're used to being stared at by guys there was something weird about the two that you couldn't put your finger on.

Then there was that girl that gave you that number that day you were out at a club with Jacob. How could you forget when the two guys nailed you in the back room. They'd been kind enough to give you a pair of twenties for your drinks before the fun, and after the action this girl showed up. Being wasted at the time you don't really remember what she'd said, but you do recall something about her being in this area.
