You get the door open. But you may have a problem

You scrabble frantically at the door, your panic driving all reason out of your mind. Cody is roaring with rage behind you, and you know he'll kill you if he catches you. You turn the knob and wrench the door open, fleeing half naked into the night, gasping in terror.

A spotlight flares, almost blinding you, and you hear voices shouting something, but your visceral panic consumes you. Like a mindless animal you keep running, squealing in terror, heedless of anything except the need to get away from the monstrous killer who means to take your life.

There are sudden sharp explosive noises in front of you, and more shouting. What little of your mind is still rational realises that you're hearing gunshots, and you give a sob as you fall to the ground.
