You get a call.

You then drive off, making sure to ignore the urges you feel to head back to the house and give them a surprise yourself by showing up early to your surprise dinner. (Much the way Megan apparently lied about her sister, Loran admitted to you she was somewhat bad at keeping secrets, before telling you why she needed to return home so quickly.)

You honestly didn’t know where you were headed. You therefore take it as a blessing when your phone starts to ring, forcing you to pull over and answer it.

“Hello,” you say simply.

“Hello, God,” says a voice that is unmistakably Tiffany’s.

“You know that’s not my name!” you correct her, laughing because you know she meant that at least partially as a joke.

“I know of no such thing!” she replies, returning the laugh. “I was taught growing-up that God is our Savior, and you’re certainly the one that saved us!”

“Perhaps,” you admit. “But you needn’t give me that title when you’re already preparing a surprise dinner.”

“Some surprise!” she complains. “It’s no surprise when you CLEARLY already know about it!!”

“I’m sorry!” you admit, laughing again. “Loran apologized before she told me, and said she couldn’t keep her mouth shut.”

“Oh,” Tiffany says. “That’s a problem that runs in the family,” she adds suggestively.

“Whatever,” you say, ignoring it the best you can. “Just don’t punish her for it.”

“Of course not!” the girls’ mother adds. “Why, that would leave nothing for YOU to do after the meal!!”

She hangs up before the conversation can continue any further.
