You flee and run into a cop

The group advances toward you relentlessly. You begin to suspect that the woman isn´t good for her word. You crawl back on the floor. “That wasn’t me, I swear!” The crowd is not convinced. You stand up to run away …and crash into a chubby policeman wearing cowboy boots.

“Well, well, well. What do we have here?”

“Oh, thank goodness. Officer, you have to hel…” he promptly cuffs your hands together. “Huh?”

“We received a lot of complaints about you, young lady. The long arm of the law may be slow, but it is steady and relentless. We´ll take you in for your crimes.”

“Yeah!” The mob celebrates.

“Took your sweet time, sheriff,” yells a shrill woman.

“But I didn’t do anything! They have mistaken me for someone else,” you plead, shifting your arms in discomfort of the cold metal on your wrists.

“Judge Denver will be the, err, judge of that. Besides this scam, you are also accused of stealing clothes, shoplifting, and littering the town with unauthorized pamphlets. Now, let´s take you to the station.”

The man pushes you forward, and your trembling feet take a step. The crowd heckles at you. You squirm, trying in vain to contort your body into a way that doesn´t show off your intimates. With the handcuffs behind your back, there is little you can do. “How far is your patrol car?” You ask, not seeing any police vehicle parked on the street.

“What, you think we have the budget for that? This isn´t some fancy city police department here, girl. We´ll walk.”

“A-and where is the station?”

“On the outskirts of town.”

“Of c-course.”

“But we are not going there just yet.”

“Huh?”

“I missed my breakfast looking for you missy, we are going to make a stop in the dinner by the highway first. Then, when my tummy is full, we´ll walk to the station.”

“Aww… Can you at least give me a towel or something to cover myself?”

“Sorry, we don´t have the budget, just keep moving and smile! Here comes the press.”
