You dont go over. Leave it for a few days

You read the page again slowly, taking in every word and trying to find any hidden meaning behind them. You feel extremely deflated and feel like there is now a great hole in your heart. You feel a great urge to go over to the address and try to persuade her to return home with you, however your a more rational part of your brain tells you that could do more harm than good. Instead you pull your phone out of your pocket and type out a text.

"Hi Rachel,

Just got your note. I understand your need for space and time to think. If there is anything you need don't hesitate to ask.

John".

You send the text message to Rachel's phone and look around the kitchen. The place suddenly seemed a lot bigger and an aura of loneliness filled the air around you. With a great sigh you make your way to the fridge.

"Ok, lets see what I can knock up for breakfast." You say aloud, knowing nobody else would hear it.

It has been a long week for you. You haven't seen or heard from Rachel since you read that note six days ago. Not even a text message.

You have thrown yourself into your work the last few days, earning some high praise from your boss. You have been ear marked for an upcoming promotion and your recent efforts have put you in good stead, however the real reason for the additional hours is that you don't want to go to the house and find it empty. Despite the smile you have been putting on you have been utterly miserable.

On the Saturday afternoon you decided that enough was enough. You wanted to see her. You pick up all the letters adressed to Rachel that have been delivered the last few days, lock up the house and get into your car.

Thirty minutes later you are standing outside the door of the apartment Rachel was-in theory- temporarily staying with her with. In your right hand you have the letters adressed to Rachel, and in your left hand you have a bouquet of flowers you bought from the local florist enroute to the friend's house Rachel is currently staying at. The building is full of students. You know this as you had been to many a student party in this building when studying.

You take a deep breath, put the hand holding the flowers behind your back and knock on the door.
