Chapter 5 by AaronWebster

Should you go after her? Or stay and see the bottle's next victims?

You don’t, but somebody else does

You look vaguely embarrassed as your wife walks out wordlessly. After all, you’ve only been working with these people for one day.

“Do you want to go after her?” asks Marcia with concern in her eyes (and a little breathless still).

“Um… no… she’ll be okay,” you reply, trying to cover your embarrassment.

“She didn’t look okay, you know…” begins Gordon.

“She’s fine!” you snap, suddenly annoyed that your wife has caused a scene in front of your work colleagues.

“Are you sure you wouldn’t like to go and see what’s wrong?” asks Melissa.

“No. Its fine,” you say, resisting the urge to snap at your boss as well as her husband.

“I’ll go and have a word with her,” says Melanie with a smile, patting your wrist sympathetically.

“No really,” you say calmly, “lets just carry on with the game. If she’s not back in a few minutes, I’ll go and check on her.” Your words would sound far more sincere, if your eyes weren’t darting back and forth between the blonde secretary’s ample cleavage and long sexy legs as you were speaking them.

“Let’s carry on,” you say firmly to the room in general. And, as if to bring the discussion to a close, you reach forward and grasp the bottle. You give it a hefty spin and stare fixedly at it until it begins to slow down, as if that will somehow make the problem go away.

As the bottle finally begins to slow, you look up.

With a start you realise that, despite your protestations, somebody else has left the room to comfort your wife. But who?

Who does the bottle stop with? And who has left the room?
