Chapter 12

What's next?
You crash in the town
What happens next is a blur. You and Sabrina bounce around the boat like you were in the middle of a piñata. Wood shatters, glass breaks, and you are thrown out of the ride not too long after.
Luckily, you fell atop a bush, Sabrina landing next to you. Your head takes a few minutes to stop spinning, but nothing hurts too much! That´s either a good sign or a very bad sign.
Your eyes clear up, and you can survey the damage. The remains of the boat lie broken in front of you, more scrap than anything else. A path of destruction was carved across the beach and into the town proper. The boat tipped over a changing cabin, smashed across a cabbage stand, and toppled down a small tree, not to mention the damage to the road. It´s quite the mess.
Speaking of messes, there´s an angry mob that seems to be yelling at you. Your ears are still ringing, so you aren´t sure what they are saying, but it can´t be anything polite. The good news, if you can call them that, is that the handcuffs got smashed in the collision. You can release their grip on your wrists. Yes! You moan as you rub your sore skin.
“You two are under arrest.” A slightly chubby man wearing cowboy boots and a police badge handcuffs your wrist to Sabrina´s.
“Ghf ffhckhg dmhhnt.” Huh, the gag is still there.
“Hey, what the meaning of this?” Sabrina snaps back, she finally came back to reality. “I have just been in an accident! You should be calling an ambulance and giving me hot cocoa!”
“She is right, sheriff.” A woman walks next to the policeman. Uh-oh. You recognize her... Hopefully, she doesn´t recognize you. “As much as these two ruffians deserve the express ticket to the slammer, there is a procedure to follow…” The woman stops talking to stare at “…you! You are the girl that stole my clothes and humiliated me this morning!”
“Wow, you are just the best at making friends, you know that?” Sabrina chides you. You can do little more than shrug weakly.
“You were saying, Judge Denver?” Hold on, she is a judge?! That doesn´t bode well.
“Never mind! Take them to the station immediately! These two deserve the full weight of the law!”
“But what about the procedure? Shouldn’t we take them to the clinic first?”
“Does anyone see any injury on these two rascals? No?
What about you, Doc Luis?” The crowd shakes their head. “There´s your medical examination.”
“I don´t know…” replied the sheriff.
“They are naked for crying out loud. If they had any serious injuries, they would be plain to see!”
“Naked? Ah!” Sabrina looks down on herself and squeals. It seems like she forgot how much she wasn´t wearing. In her defense, so did you. You also squeal. You both try to cover yourselves, but the handcuffs mean that you only do half a good job, your arms are stuck in a tug of war.
“All right, I´ll take them away.” The sheriff relents to the wishes of the judge.
“That´s o-our cue to leave.” Sabrina's leg swipes the man, and like a great oak tree, he falls. She starts running away, dragging you along with her. To be fair, you also don´t want to stay there with the angry mob, but perhaps there was a way to escape that didn´t involve assaulting the authorities?
“Ouch. You are only making this worse for yourself!” The sheriff yells as he begins his pursuit. Well, at least he wasn´t injured. You enter an alleyway, but there is nothing there. A dead end.
The sheriff appears behind you. “Well, well, well. End of the road.”
