Chapter 2
by FlightoftheBeers
Who do you want to start with?
You at a Conference
It was supposed to be a rather long conference. Originally, Aubrey would be going on her own, or possibly taking Dillon. But you knew that the stress of moving had done a number on the both of you, so a bit of a vacation wouldn't hurt.
There were a lot of really impressive figures here. Investment from any of them would mean lots of income for the company. You would be able to expand and maybe even move out of the cramped office everyone was in. Still, you had little idea on how to go about that.
You and Tegan had shown up together, but most of the men that approached you seemed far more interested in her than they did you. It made sense; she was a cute young blond. It would be weirder if they flocked more to you! That was, until, a mature woman with auburn hair approached you. You immediately knew who she was: Dani Jensen — one of the biggest lawyers in New York. She had her own firm that handled only the most high-end of cases.
"Well, you must be Aubrey's pet project," Dani smirked and took a sip of her wine. "She has talked quite a bit about you."
You cleared your throat, "hopefully good things."
"Oh, very good things. She's positioned you as one of the better lawyers in the state— perhaps even the country. I've only caught some recordings of your cases, but I would love to see what you can do in person." She pressed her finger to your collar before letting it slide down. "Truth be told, I knew you were coming. I would like to talk to you about some things a little later, so don't go anywhere." She winked at you and then walked off, her hips swaying rather overtly.
She was powerful in both words and stature. You were surprised you'd managed to **** out what you did.
"Well that was rude," Tegan said, her hands on her hips as she watched Dani walk away. "She didn't even acknowledge me."
When you finally calmed down, you looked at Tegan in bewilderment. "That was Dani Jensen. She runs the biggest firm in New York."
"What?" Tegan blinked before turning to look at you.
"Getting an audience with her as a client is almost impossible, but getting on her radar as a fellow lawyer is either a miracle or a **** sentence," you gulped and tried to calm your nerves. That had been harrowing and the last thing you wanted to do was collapse right here.
"Well, I still don't like her." Your wife huffed.
"You don't have to. We just have to be wary of her." You looked around a bit before finally letting your shoulders down. "Let's go get a drink." You said, taking her hand.
"Actually, is it okay if I go back to the room? I feel like I'm just going to be in the way. Plus, all of these people make me feel anxious. It's like they're judging me," Tegan rubbed her arms and shivered. She really wanted to be anywhere but there.
"That's because they are. It's like a shark-infested ocean. I do need to stick around, at least until after dinner. But then I'll come up to the room," you gave her a quick kiss on the lips before the two of you parted ways. She was all-too-happy to leave and you definitely needed a drink.
You kind of wished you had someone else here by your side to help you not feel so alone. You slid into the bar and got a cocktail when a gentleman sat down next to you. "Beautiful young woman you had there," he said, getting his own drink.
"Huh? Oh yeah. My wife is great," you replied in a bit of a daze. You weren't expecting anyone to approach you. He seemed familiar, but you weren't really able to place his face.
"She's more than that," he laughed in reply. "You seem a bit green around here. One of the benefits of being men like us is that women are a commodity that we can easily exchange." He slipped a card out of his wallet and handed it to you. "Your wife is young, shy and inexperienced. She'll fetch an amazingly high price for the month."
"I'm sorry?" You grabbed the card, but it told you less about the man than you had already known.
"Some men come here and trade their wives for favors or funding. A cute young thing like your wife could net you a few million if you lent her out to the right people. Of course, if you simply sold her..." He took out a piece of paper, wrote on it, and slid it over to you.
"That's, um... a lot of zeroes." You hadn't ever seen a number that big written out for your before. But you weren't going to sell your wife!
"Of course, some of that can go to your firm. But the rest could be used to buy another woman. I'm sure you wouldn't mind an upgraded model; a nice full ass, large breasts... Maybe more like Aubrey." He raised a teasing eyebrow. "Of course, I'm partial to women like your wife, too." He tapped card, "my room number and phone number is on it if you're interested in this little side buisness. Of course, discretion is required." With that, he, too got up and left.
Was there anyone here that was here just to invest?
Who do we run into next?
