You Win By the Skin of Your Teeth

Things look a little better for you, as Scraggy comes barreling in for a tackle or maybe a headbutt, and as if you're both thinking as one, Oshawott waits for your command and then immediately dodges when you tell him too. Oshawott then quickly turns and swipes at the fighting/dark type with his shell and gets some damage. You give a proud grin as the smug little shit looks shocked at taking an attack like that. Then twice more, Oshawott and you wait until the last moment to dodge an attack from the dark type and get in a swipe from the surprisingly sharp shell.

Things go back in the Scraggy's favor, as it learns from this, as when you dodge for the fourth time, it doesn't put so much weight into its attack and instead grabs Oshawott's foot and slings him across the battlefield. You cry out in concern for your new little friend, and that seems to get the water type's attention, who plunges his scalchop into the ground, slowing his speed and allowing the water type to stop and land on the ground before hitting a tree that Scraggy slung him at. Scraggy and Oshawott then locked eyes before running at each other. The two little Pokemon then slam their heads against each other, Oshawott wincing more in pain from it than Scraggy, sadly. What's worse is that when Oshawott went to swipe at Scraggy with its scalchop, the fighting/dark type manages to knock it out of your starter's hand and because Scraggy has a longer neck, Oshawott can't reach his opponent with his stubby little arms. Just as Oshawott is starting to be pushed backwards by the yellow Pokemon, the water type opens his mouth and starts saying its name over and over again. Hearing this, you assume he is chanting to encourage himself, and you start to cheer on your little starter for his determination. Eventually, Oshawott manages to get Scraggy back to where they originally started. Your confidence starts to waver just a little, because Oshawott has to be getting tired from all of this, but then you start to hear a gurgling sound for some reason. Then, out of nowhere Oshawott blasts water from his mouth and hits Scraggy point blank. This sends the fighting type flying back and slamming against a tree. When the stream of water stops, your opponent falls to one knee on the ground, dazed from the blast of water and hitting the tree.

Now is your chance! In a flash, you rip a pokeball from your bag and chuck it at the fighting/dark type, bouncing the ball off the tree and hitting the Scraggy in the back of the head, dazing it even further. The Pokemon is soon sucked into the ball, which falls to the ground and shakes. Once, twice... and then stops! You did it! In your excitement, you then run over to Oshawott and pick him up into a hug. It takes a minute and for you to realize your Oshawott is panting heavily from the fight, and so you let him down and let him catch his breath, patting his back while praising him for his hard work. Eventually he calms down, and smiles up at you, excited to have made you so happy. You complement him one more time before sending him back into the ball to rest and relax. You then walk over to the Scraggy inside of its ball and pick it up. You didn't plan on using a Scraggy, but after all of this you might just do that for all the effort. You then pocket the ball and start to make your way down the route.

Not far from the battle ground, you see the end of the route as well as Bianca and Cheren, both waiting for you. As you get closer, you remember that you guys had a bet for who caught the most mon and start to worry if you caught enough. Both have their backs to you, as evidenced by the first thing of Bianca you saw was her bubble butt in her dress, so you still have time to try and catch one more, but then again, after the Scraggy fight you might not want to risk that, as half your team is down, one member is almost done, and the other is newly caught and aggressive.
