Chapter 31 by Nom Nom Nom de Plume Nom Nom Nom de Plume

How are you going to make your approach?

You Need Him Dead, Go in Blasters Blazing

Your employers want him dead. No need to be subtle about this. You hook the thermal detonators you brought to your belt, hold your blaster in hand, and race directly towards the Cathar on your speeder bike.

The moment you are in effective range, you open fire. Unfortunately, it's hard to hit anything while also piloting a speeder, and the Cathar is shockingly fast for a being his size. You see his companions scrambling. Going for weapons? You spray fire in their direction; might be best to take them out before they can arm themselves.

Firing at the companions changed the scene drastically. They didn't go for weapons, they turned tail and ran. It also seemed to enrage Nojahl. Before, he had been evading your fire while slowly drawing closer to you. Now he's in a full charge, roaring at the top of his lungs. He's not even bothering to change direction or move out of the way. You realize he's trying to hold your attention.

He doesn't care if he dies, he's trying to buy the others time. Fortunately, your priorities are the exact opposite. That makes things easier.

You fire, but the rising winds make aiming with a pistol difficult. You clip an arm, singe his hip. At one point you're positive you've landed a direct shot to his torso, but he keeps coming.

Screw this, you decide. You activate and lob one of your thermal detonators. Even still, he's fast, and it is hard to judge his distance in the sands, so you overthrow. Even an overthrown thermal detonator can be effective however, and the blast catches the Cathar in the back, throwing him to the ground before you. You advance cautiously, and see him still fighting. He's struggling to his feet, despite massive scorchmarks on his back. Tough bastard. You can respect that.

"Your friends are away. You bought them enough time. No one's going to find them anymore."

Your words seem to finally release him. There's really nothing left for him to fight for. He sinks to his knees, and you take aim.

It's almost a shame, but you have a job to do.

By this point the storm would make it impossible to ride the bike back to Mos Espa. You send a call to your Devaronian employers, who promise they are sending a transport to pick you up.

It arrives sooner than you expect, and you find yourself on the way to the Dev and Lila's pleasure manse.

Are your employers happy?
