Adam’s excuse
You’re not the boss of me
“Just because you’re older than me doesn’t mean you can tell me what to do” Adam would tell me constantly. Over and over again I have to hear about how my age doesn’t give me any authority over him any more.
It seems that now Mum and Dad were out of the picture, Adam had decided out of sight meant out of mind and that he could forget everything they had brought him up to know and care about. I could understand a little rebellion here and there but my brother was becoming a completely lazy slob and I’d had enough.
One night after a particularly loud and drawn out argument over this very issue where I was tired of us living this way and fighting all the time, Adam stormed out and drove off. I was exhausted and finished cleaning the mess we were arguing about before going to bed, hoping maybe some time to clear his head after hearing me out might make Adam reconsider things a bit.
