What have you decided?
You're staying.
You answer.
"With you" you add. You smile as you stare into her face. You expected joy and happiness as she hugged you, and you'd hold her until dinner arrived. What you got was different. You felt worry and fear in her and her face looked almost sad.
"Does this not make you happy my love" you ask her.
"It does, but I don't want you to abandon yourself just to satisfy my own wants" she says as a tear streaks down her face.
"Oh" is all you can say as you think of what to say next.
"I probably should have started with who I was before I came here, but I was selfish and didn't want to weird you out" you start. "Where I come from I am in my 50s, and only have at most another 30 years, likely less with my families history of disease. My wife cheated on me and left me. I'm old, I'm alone, and I have no future there besides misery. Here I am young, strong, skilled, and most of all I have you. I can't abandon you. I refuse to do that" you state firmly. "I promise you I am not making this decision lightly, but my choice is clear" you say pulling her into a hug. "I choose you."
At first she doesn't respond as she takes in what you said. Then you feel her relax more and wrap her arms around you and embraces you tightly. You can feel the worry and fear drift from her and love radiates like a burning sun from her. She cries against you and tell her it's ok to just let it out. You aren't going anywhere.
