You're Not The Only One To Arrive

The four of you waited for minutes and still, no one opened the gate, "Oh what the fuck," Hannah grumbled out, "Let's go! Open the fucking door!" Hannah shouted while smacking her hand against the gate,

A moment later you heard a gruff voice from the other side of the voice, "Hold you're fucking horses, I'm coming!" You heard the jingling of keys, and the thick wooden doors slowly creaked open, on the other side a well-built man in a police jacket and matching police baseball cap. A pump shot was slung over his shoulder, despite the gun what frightened you more was the piercing glare he gave you all from his tired, heavy eyes. "Right, all of you get...hold on, who's this?" He asked his eyes flaring up while staring at you,

"This is Garrett West, Andy, he's staying with us." Hannah said with a simple smirk,

"Oh, is he now? And who decided that?" Andy growled back,

"I did because you're not in charge here, neither is Eli, so get out of the way and let us in." Hannah shot back with a hard glare,

Andy locked eyes with her, he remained locked in place for another for a few more moments before he took a step back and let the gate door open further, "We'll see about that, don't get comfy here." Andy sharply said to you while the four of you shuffled through the door.

As you walked past the walls, you felt a sense of relief, despite Andy's threat you instantly felt safe. You couldn't even imagine having to step back out into the world, not without the promise of being able to return somewhere safe. You heard the heavy swinging and slamming of the wooden doors and turned back only to see Andy chaining it shut, "Devin, Ellie, Randy's gonna want to see what you go so he can stock it."

"He just wants to see what he can sneak during the night," Devin whispered under his breath causing Ellie to snicker,

"Where's Mindy?" Hannah curiously asked,

"Where you think?" Andy shot back, "She's on watch."

"Would it kill you not to be a prick for a solid five minutes?" Hannah muttered back to Andy while he moved towards the church doors,

"You know I might Hannah because you keep doing shit like this and I'm the one who has to break the news to Eli!" Andy exclaimed with a snapping turn, Hannah crossed her arms and gave him an unimpressed look. Andy tossed his hands up and stormed away, grumbling under his breath angrily.

"You weren't kidding about that guy." You said as soon as Andy was far enough away,

"It's his personality, he's not a bad guy, but he is wound too tight. Eli's the real prick here; I'd love nothing more than just to kick him out, I think almost everyone would agree." Hannah said, thinking aloud,

"Then why don't you?" You asked slightly confused,

Hannah let out a little sigh, "Well, the thing is, he-"

Suddenly a bell rung and a feminine voice yelled out, "We got a Humvee coming up the road!"

You looked over and saw the outline of a woman in a makeshift tower; you looked back to Hannah he jogged forward, "Andy! Someone's coming!" She shouted out urgently,

Within a second Andy came sprinting out the church, shotgun in hand, "Is it them, are they back?!" Andy screamed out to the tower,

"I don't know, I can only see the Humvee, but it's got a gun on the top!" Mindy shouted back,

Andy shook his head irritated before turning to you, his shotgun raised, "Are they with you?! Are you bringing someone here!?"

"W-what, no! I was alone!" You exclaimed while raising your hands,

"Andy, he's telling the truth, back off! We've got bigger problems!" Hannah shouted out, quickly moving to your side,

Andy gave you a final glare before moving towards the door, "If you got a gun get up to the door, got it!"

You nodded and reached into the back of your belt, pulling out your revolver. Hannah pulled out a single 9mm pistol and motioned for you to follow her. "Listen, we've got Mindy in the tower watching the road with a rifle, we're gonna open the door and see who's coming and if things go bad we head back and lock the doors, okay?" Hannah quickly explained,

"You guys seem to have this down, like it's happened before, often." You pointed out,

Hannah let out a sigh, "Garrett, please, I promise I will explain everything after we've dealt with this. Please, just listen and do what I say right now." Hannah begged,

"Fine, but I want to know what's going on." You replied while moving behind Andy who began to unlock the gate,

"We move out and get to some cover, alright? Tree, Rock, doesn't matter, Mindy said they got some heavy artillery on this thing. If things go bad, keep your head down and make sure you're not out in the open." Andy advised you and Hannah before taking hold of the door, "Let's go." He grunted while pulling it open and slipping outside the wall, you took a deep breath and followed Hannah out.
