Chapter 24 by tailteller

Does either one remember she needs water?

Yes

James had only just begun to let sleep take him, when he realized the body entangled with his felt like sandpaper. Panic hit, and he carefully lifted her into his arms before standing. He was careful not to wake her while weaving around the furniture and through the hallway. He had to consciously calm himself when, in the light of the bathroom, her skin appeared close to as white as the first night he found her. It felt like so long ago now...how had so much changed in only a few days?

He gently slid her back into the water, watching with relief as her skin shifted back to the vibrant blue he'd come to find so endearing. With a kiss to her forehead, he left her to sleep. He locked the door, and decided just before falling asleep to find a gold color to keep on his screen while it charged. He placed it by the bedside, facing the doorway she'd come from in the morning. He fell asleep with a light blush, and a lighter heart than he thought he could have. The momentary thought of their difference in species was easily waved away this time, rather than holding him to inaction.

How does the morning go?
