Chapter 5 by Gentlemen8p Gentlemen8p

Did she mange to provoke him?

Yes

The young woman impatiently waited for a reaction from him, why she wanted to find out if he remembered her was lost on her and truly she didn’t care.

As if all the pieces had fallen into place it didn’t take much but the familiar nickname to trigger something from Victor. Along his smooth features and perfect expression crept an imperfection, the corner of his lip began to twitch, slipping into a menacing grin. “Dense? Your ego has grown if you believe you left that big of an impression runt.”

Iris felt his words it had been some time since she'd been called that name and it didn’t string even less. However, she was happy that somewhere in the back of Victor’s mind he did remember her, she mistakenly took a step forward before a young woman emerged from the sea of white school uniforms and slipped her arms around Victor’s. “Victor you’ll be late if you choose to converse with this person any further.”

If Victor could stop time then this girl’s words could start it again, as the very mention of being late sent the rest of the students away. It didn’t take long for the grin to leave the handsome boy’s face and for Iris to grow a little envious of how easily the girl had captured Victor’s attention for herself.

“I would hardly call it a person.” He muttered in a plain voice, unfazed by the appearance of the girl who decided to cling to him.

Jealousy struck Iris as she eyed the girl up and down, she was at least a year older than her and she was the very picture of perfection. From their height to the golden curls that fell down to her shapely ass there was nothing Iris could compare herself to without feeling pathetic.

As much as she hated it, questions on who this girl was and their relationship to her future brother-in-law clawed at the back of her mind. Thankful one of said questions would be answered as a set of familiar twins appeared just on cue.

"I should've guessed I would bump into those two." The complaint came from most disorganized of the two redheads. The boy gave an exhausted sigh while the girl had an amused expression on her face.

"Come now Arthur we can't fault our big brother for enjoying his power couple fantasies with his attractive fiance, besides if this is how they act in public I can only imagine how they act in private would offend you." The commentary was given by Victoria with as much gleefulness as lewdness.

"How are we related? You have the mind of an old man! AND I didn't need that image in my head!" Arthur's whiny voice broke out in an argument towards his sister who was quite amused with herself for provoking him.

The two appearing in such a way left a dumb look on Iris face as she processed what was happening before she saw Victoria's curiosity fall upon her next.

"Yeah, Yeah, shut up for a second." She said half-heartedly ignoring her brother while she stared at Iris as if trying to recall something. "Arthur does that boy look familiar to you?"

"Don't change the subject!" He shouted not finished his previous argument while Victor watched on in amusement as if he recalled he knew what would happen next.

"What did you just call?..." Iris clenched her fist as her haunting blue eyes poked through her dark strains of hair making Victoria flinch and place a hand over her mouth.

Without a second to react Victoria stole every ouch of her courage and walked towards Iris invading the girl's personal space. "A-apologise but if this to forward would you happen to be..." She reached a hand towards the young women's face and held their hair from her face. "Iris?!"

"Hey dummy, you want to repeat that last thing you just called me." She asked her old friend.

"Sorry I didn't realise it was you." Victoria panicked jumping back a step until Victor's laughter broke the tension.

"Eight years and that still bugs you?! You haven't changed one bit."

"Shut up!" Iris resorted to shouting at her childhood bully knowing all too well she's acting like the child he use to torment.

"Make me. Seriously why are you getting angry at my poor little sister for making the assumption? You didn't exactly fill out much you ugly little bitch." He spoke the truth plain and simple but he didn't have to, he just wanted to watch her break down like she use to do but perhaps it was her pride or pure spitefulness that refused to give in to what he wanted.

"That's uncalled for Victor." Arthur came to her defence but unlike before as a child, the young women placed a hand on his arm stopping him.

To interrupt the slew of insults the blond girl attached to Victor's arm spoke. "Interesting who is this girl to you?" She asked Victor directly as she looked at Iris in-between the two red-heads.

"Nobody just some kid that use to be dropped off at my house when I was a child." Iris watched the girl's arm tighten around Victor's with each word he spoke.

"Oh is that all? Alright." The strange girl spoke with a deadpanned expression but as Iris mistakenly glimpsed into the girl's eyes, sensing that she had just made an enemy today and for the life of her didn't know-how. "I'm bored now walk me to class?"

After the couple left, Victoria broke the silence with a full-blown hug as she attached herself to her old friend. "What are you doing here? I never thought we would see you again." Victoria, wearing the all-white school uniform, contrasting greatly pressed against Iris.

Iris admits awkwardly, painfully aware of the stark contrast in their appearance as she hugged Victoria. So far, her friends were not helping with the feeling that she simply did not belong here. "I am supposed to be attending the school this year but... I just don't know."

"That would be wonderful." Insists Victoria. "You can help me keep an eye on Arthur." She giggles.

"It would be nice to have you around again. Someone to help keep Victor in check." Arthur says as he scowled at the spot where his brother had insulted his old friend. "Have you registered yet?"

"No." Iris looks down at her feet and dishevelled clothes.

"Not to worry. We can stop by my room and you can get changed. Then I'll take you by the office and show you around." Victoria nuzzled playfully into the side of Iris's face as a plea to forgive her for calling them a boy.”We really need to do something about that hair of yours.” Victoria grabbed her hand and began pulling her to the main entrance.

Iris still felt oddly out of place and looked to Arthur for support. He had always been sweet to her in the past and she hoped he understood now more than ever. "I..." She began to say before being cut off by the boy.

"Just remember, none of them are as confident or perfect as they look." Arthur's words gave Iris the conviction she needed to remember her own strength and the crowd felt just a little less threatening. Maybe this arrangement wouldn't be so bad after all. Iris had missed her old friends and it would be nice to catch up with them after these past eight years. The twins seemed like they had done a lot of growing up since last she had seen them.

Victoria pulls Iris along, through the throng of students, into the main building of the school, leaving Arthur behind. They make a quick turn to the left, down the main hall, and towards the girls' dormitory. Iris was barely able to keep ahold of her bag as she was practically dragged by the arm. Victoria looks over her shoulder and smiles without saying a word. She hardly resembles the quiet little girl Iris once knew.

Do the girls make it to the dormitory?
