Her spear flashed straight and true, impacting his throat cleanly, cutting his bellow to nothing more than a slight gurgle as the spearpoint cleanly shot through his neck, severing his spine. The lizardman dropped instantly, as life fled his body. Venus ripped her spear free of his throat, dropping into a ready stance next to the door, listening for any signs that she had been noticed.

Several tense minutes passed, her hearth thundering in her chest, her breath rasping through her throat, before she decided she had cleanly killed him. Stepping forward over the corpse, she entered the doorway, finding herself in what seemed to be a ruined passageway of a time long past. Many of the stone tiles were broken or outright missing, and the walls and ceiling were crumbling. She could see a few spots where the walls had collapsed across the hall, littering debris everywhere. Torches burned intermittently along the length of the hall, casting their flickering light down it, until the hall ended at a wooden door about a hundred feet away.
