Chapter 3 by vertigo vertigo

Does Joyce go into the room?

Yes and the door is locked behind her.

Room five was almost boardroom size given the amount of space surrounding the table in the centre. Bright lights offset the cloud covered sky outside as the window was, in fact, a glass wall that showed the cityscape sprawled out before the multi-story building. Joyce walked right up to the window and peered down at the traffic below. Cars and people looked like ants from this height; something Joyce was sure the executive staff took great pleasure in. She wondered how many of them stood in a similar spot in the building and just lorded their success over everyone else as they scurried about living their normal lives.

Joyce was awakened from her thoughts as the unmistakable sound of the door behind her locking could be heard. Running to the door, Joyce tried the handle first then quickly began banging on the wood. "Excuse me!" She shouted. "I'm still in the room! Could someone unlock the door please?!"

After a few minutes of her banging and shouting getting louder and seemly being unheard or ignored, all the same, Joyce stopped and leaned back against the door, letting out a defeated sigh. "Just great," was all she could think to say. Then eyes rested on the phone still sitting on the table and suddenly her mood improved as she made her way back, across the room to retrieve it. "I'll just phone reception and they can send maintenances with a spare key to unlock the door."

Just as Joyce was about to pick up the phone, to her surprise, it started to ring. Assuming her professional manner almost on instinct, she answered. Before she was even able to speak her normal company greeting, a voice with a commanding tone spoke:"Please confirm your full name and payroll number."

Having gone through this routine a thousand times before, Joyce answered without needing to think. "Joyce Holland, number 728XXXX."

"Thank you, Miss Holland. Sorry for the wait. Your new line manager will be along shortly," and with that said the voice had hung up.

Joyce was beyond confused. She had little time to compose herself as the sound of movement alerted her to the opening of a false wall to her right.

What does Joyce see?
