Chapter 11
by floppy15
Will I talk to her?
Yes, but not about the dream
A week later I stand in the hallway with sweaty palms. I have no idea why I'm so nervous. On the other side of the hall is Sam. Today she is wearing a denim skirt, that is just long enough to cover her firm cheeks. Her luscious tits are barely covered by a black blouse and a ponytail confines her onyx colored silky hair. The outfit is completed by a pair of black high heels, open on the front, showing her slender feet. She talks to Jennifer who is just as gorgeous as her best friend. A simple outfit of tight jeans and a plain green top let her look casual but sexy.
I promised Ernie and Morris, that I would take care of this. The mp3-player balances in my hand and I look towards those beautiful girls again. Before today I never had problems talking to people, no matter if guys, girls, hot or chubby, I just didn't care. But this time I wanted something and I was afraid she would say no. For several minutes I stood there, hoping Jennifer would leave, because I think I will have a better shot when I get Sam alone. The minutes slip away and the break is almost over.
After taking one last deep breath I walk towards them.
“Sam, can I talk to you for a minute?” I ask with a shaky voice. The girls turn towards me and are truly surprised. Especially Jennifer looks at me like I'm a lesser being.
“John? Yeah sure.” she answers with uncertainty in her voice. We walk a few steps down the hall so nobody can hear us. I don't care who knows, but I know Sam good enough to know she doesn't want to be seen with someone like me. Jennifer doesn't let me out of her sight for a second.
“What's up?” she asks genuinely curious. I take a deep breath and arrange my thoughts carefully.
“I know it is against everything you want to represent in public, but I heard you sing the other night and I wanted to ask you if you'd like to be our new vocalist.” I confess to her. Her jaw literally drops and she doesn't know what to say for a moment. Jennifer becomes even more suspicious and comes a few steps closer.
“You heard me sing?” Sam asks perplexed.
“Yeah, the other night when I went home and passed the bathroom.” I explain to her.
“I just sang a song under the shower.” she replies embarrassed and turns to leave.
“What are you afraid of?” I ask her bluntly. Again she can't believe what she's hearing.
“What are you talking about?” she asks with slight anger swinging in her voice.
“You love to sing. And you're incredible, I couldn't believe how much warmth and feeling your voice carried.” I stated and look into her emerald eyes. By now she is truly confused. And tries to escape my look.
“Are you so afraid what they might think?” I ask her and look at Jennifer. Sam follows my eyes and sees her best friend.
“You don't know me at all.” she hisses at me just as I thought I had gotten though to her.
“No I don't.” I reply calmly. “And if you continue your life like this, nobody ever will.”
Suddenly she lifts her head and looks right into my eyes, her eyes filled with tears. She needed to hear the truth from someone. I gently take her hand into mine and place the mp3-player in her palm.
“Listen to it, read the lyrics. You have no idea how happy music can make you.” I say to her and walk away. When I turn around the corner I see her in the corner of my eye, still standing in the same spot. Looking at me.
Will she agree?
