Chapter 31 by FerAng FerAng

Time for some cooking then...?

Yeah, you get started with the food

"Well, I guess I should get started with the food then..." You say, while reaching the kitchen counter, and keep pretending that you didn't notice the unintentional pun. It's not Kate's fault that your mutual friend has a wicked sense of humour, though you can't quite keep from smiling as you glance back at the blushing girl over your shoulder. "If that's what she said...?"

"Y-yeah!" Kate nods vigorously, and looks like she'd torn between offering to help you, or running off to somewhere else. "I... guess I should tell Rachel that I'm staying...?"

"Yeah, you should!" You agree, and smile again as she practically bolts for the door. It's really hard to imagine that a girl like her could carry such a big 'secret'... But then again, you'd hardly expect something like that that of a girl like Rachel either!

It's about half an hour later, and supper is coming along just fine. Fries and steak are on the menu, as you feel the sausages might seem... inappropriate, somehow.

The girls haven't been seen or heard of however, and you're starting to wonder if you should call out for them, or have a quick look upstairs to see if they're too busy with something. Then you realize what you're actually doing here, and decide it's a really bad habit to always assume 'the worst' whenever two good friends are having some time in private. But then again, you must admit that you and Rachel have pretty much jumped eachother at every single chance you get in these past few weeks...

You only get to the hallway however, when you find Rachel allready halfways down the stairs. She does have a very content little smile on her lips, and a certain gleam in her eyes, though you can't see anything else about her that would evidence of what she and Kate has been up to for the last half an hour.

"Smells delicious!" She smiles as you meet her by the kitchen door, and then throw her arms around your neck to pull you down for a firm smooching - almost tipping you both out of balance in the process. This only makes her laugh however, even more so as she can see that you're not quite sure of what's warranted her sudden ****, but then she eventually lowers her voice again to but a soft whisper. "I'm sorry! I'm just wanting to thank you for making her stay!"

"That's alright..." You smile right back at her, and steal another quick kiss before you look behind her up the stairs. Kate has just appeared on the top floor, and you can see her eyeing you curiously while you hold on to Rachel, your hands resting firmly on her luscious bottom.

For a moment you freeze then, as you're still a bit worried that Kate must be jealous of what you have with Rachel. But then you notice the smile that's growing on the cute blonde's lips, and for the first time since you met her you feel like she's meeting your eyes like you were on equal ground. Though you're not quite sure what's caused this slight change in her, you're quick to decide that it's much to the better.

"You've already set the table as well?" Rachel suddenly interrupt your thoughts, just as Kate starts heading downstairs, and she pushes right past you into the kitchen. "But, hey? Where's the sausage?"

"I couldn't find any good ones." You sigh and roll your eyes, causing your housemate to snicker, while your guest almost misses one of the steps in the stair. The comments are still completely innocent, but it seems like all three of you has a little too much of just one thing on your mind today.

"You should've looked for them harder...!" Rachel continues, flashing you one of those mischievous smiles again, while you let Kate step before you into the room. The odd puns doesn't stop just yet however, as she gleefully inspects the table, and you're pretty sure that you can hear even Kate having trouble stifling a laughter by now. "Well, I've always loved me some steak as well!"

"I know you do." You agree, with as much patience to your voice as you can possibly muster. "But you know what I've said, about eating first and play later!"

"Yes dad!" She grins, while you all sit down by the table, but still can't keep from fooling around as she's starting to tuck into the food. Giving you glances, wetting her lips before every bite, and a few other things with a similiar symbolism...

With such behaviour, you'd guess that Kate's face would literally be red like a ripe tomatoe after a couple of moments, but instead it seems like she's starting to get used to it by now. Perhaps she and Rachel once shared this same jargon themselves, though it's hard to understand with their other differencies?

All of this does seem lighten the mood at least, even as both you and Kate may still be a little bit uncomfortable around eachother. And that part isn't necessarily getting much better by Rachel playing her games on you...

But are you getting closer? And what's up after supper?
