Xander with Jasmine's power

The first thing he did was notice that the vampires were running. He ordered everyone up and even Rack, AMy and Warren helped dust all the retreating vampires.

He barely stopped Buffy from dusting Angel. "But Xander, you told us to dust the vampires, and you don't like Angel."

"I'm not making you do anything you wouldn't normally do."

They were interrupted by the sounds of running feet. Xander barely got a glimpse of Pam, one of the newer Slayers turning the corner. "Don't look at me."

He growled in frustration as she averted her eyes and dropped to her knees. Even his voice could enslave people. "Of course, I won't. I don't deserve to look at you."

"It's not that. I'm sorry, Pammy. What's the problem?"

"We got a call from Wesley with an important message." Pam redialed the cellphone she was carrying.

"Okay, I'm not going to say anything. You all do the talking."

"What seems to be wrong Wesley?" Giles asked.

"Much as I hate to say this, it is paramount that Buffy gain Jasmine's power."

"Why?" Buffy asked surprised

"This power belonged to Jasmine, and it will try to track her. If we banish it as discussed then it will simply return eventually, because this is the last place she was. I discovered a prophecy. It said that the power must go to the protector of humanity. Otherwise it will go to the destroyer of humanity, or the enslaver of women."

Xander wondered why and was surprised when Willow asked. Then he remembered the hive mind.

"What happens if the protector of humanity gets it?"

"Humanity survives, and there's much less debauchery according to my translation."

They said their goodbyes.

"See guys, this power isn't mine. It's supposed to go to Buffy."

"Xander, the literal translation of your name is protector of humanity."

'This is your reward for all you've done."

Xander obviously wasn't convinced and he rode home in the back of the RV, trying to avoid talking to people and letting them see him. He was emotionally exhausted by the time he returned home and went to bed.
