World ship

When it became clear that their star Fontis Prime was in its last cycle of which the endpoint would be their star going nova and thereby dooming all life on Fontis, a planetwide survey was issued and each and every Fontian was given the opportunity to give his thought about how to secure the future of the Fontian race.

In the end three options were retained. They would build a fleet of space arks to carry Fontians across the stars in three types of ships namely a cryoship, a generation ship and a worldship.
The worldship would be an autarkic microworld in which they could roam the cosmos wandering from star to star exploring the many wonders the universe undoubtedly still holds.

Those who chose to join the worldship project would be the first to leave Fontis behind because it seems wise to have a dry-run in their own star system.
When it became time for all to leave Fontis behind they would register from the outer reaches of the Fontis system the departure of the other ships and their star going nova from a safe distance. The relaying of this data would be the last scheduled contact they would ever have with any of the other ships. From then on they would become space nomads.

As they wandered between the stars, they discovered some of them were inhabited. If the local society proved to be sufficiently advanced and appeared to be friendly they would make planetfall with some of their secondary vessels.
In time some chose nevertheless to stay behind on one of the visited planets, on the other hand some of the people of the visited planets wanted to join the worldship.
So in time the inhabitants of the worldship became a hotchpotch of species a genetic stable one but still a hotchpotch.
And with new people came new technology and if the technology proved to be better than their own it was incorporated into the ship.

They may have started out as a Fontian worldship. But now they had become Space Nomads in their own right.
When the long-range scanners picked up an Ark-N-Sky ship they decided to make a stopover at the Arctis system.
