A loud piercing yell releases you from sleep and you sit up in bed, shocked. You look over and see Melody lying next to you, her eyes wide and mouth agape. She was carefully clutching some of the blankets to her chest to hide her naked body from view. Her lips were quivering worriedly.
"Wha...what's going on? What's happening? Where are we? Why am I naked?" She asks you, not sure how to feel about the sudden situation she woke up in.
"Hold up." You say, holding up one hand while trying to remain covered from at least the waist down. "Do you remember what happened yesterday?"
"Yesterday?" Melody asked, trying to remember.
"We went skiing and you fell off the edge of the mountain. One the way back, you fell through some ice into cold water." You explain. Realization started to dawn on her and you can see it in her eyes. "You fell unconsious and I carried you into the woods and found this cabin. You were starting to get hypothermia and..."
"And you took off my wet clothes and put me under the blankets." Melody finished. "And you got in here with me to speed up the heating process." You nod and she exhales sharply. "Of course. I get it now. Sorry for freaking out."
"It's understandable." You shrug.
"Thanks, Jack. I would have been a goner without you."
"It's no big deal." You shake your head modestly.
"Yes, yes it is. Twice you saved my life in one day." She says, her eyes shining. "Wow...I don't believe it."
"Thanks for the vote of confidence." You roll your eyes.
"No, no. That's not what I meant." She holds her hands out defensively, and the blanket around her slips slightly to show off some cleavage. "I just...well...remember when we were kids? We used to play Midievil Castle all the time?"
"Yeah?" You ask, slightly confused.
"Who would have thought that all these years later, you would actually become my real-life knight in shining armor?" She smiles shyly. You blush and scratch the back of your head.
"Awww, jeez." You mutter.
"I think that your fair princess should reward her knight for his bravery." She grins mischievously and, still holding her blanket tight to her chest, she leans in and kisses your cheek lightly. "Thank you, Jack."
"Y-your welcome." You stutter. Her smile is flooring you and now that the color has returned to her face, she looks absolutley radiant. Her hand reaches up and cups the side of your face.
"It's crazy..." She mutters, seemingly to both you and herself. "I've had dreams about you saving me from death...I just never thought they would actually come true..." Her eyes meet yours again and both your cheeks turn a light red color.
