Witness to Injustice

Setting:

The outskirts of Farmer Johnson's farm, where the barn looms ominously in the distance. The moon casts an eerie glow over the landscape, illuminating the darkness. David, a black young boy, stands hidden among the shadows, his heart heavy with the injustice unfolding before him.

Characters:

David: The young black boy, a witness to the cruelty and suffering inflicted upon Jamal.

Jamal Smith: The 18-year-old black boy, subjected to relentless degradation and torment.

Nathan: The sadistic overseer, relishing in Jamal's suffering.

James: Nathan's accomplice, eager to inflict further humiliation.

Farmer Johnson: The middle-aged owner of the farm, indifferent to Jamal's plight.

Scene:

The camera opens to David standing alone in the darkness, his eyes fixed on the barn in the distance. He watches in horror as Nathan and James subject Jamal to yet another degrading act of cruelty.

David: (whispering to himself) This isn't right... He's being treated worse than an animal.

David clenches his fists in frustration, the urge to intervene warring with the knowledge of his own vulnerability.

David: (to himself) I have to_ _do something... I can't just stand by and watch.

But even as David speaks the words, he knows the truth. He is just a young boy, powerless against the adults who hold all the cards.

David: (voice trembling) What can I do? They'll overpower me... They'll hurt me too.

David's heart aches with the weight of his helplessness. He wants to rush forward, to stand up for Jamal and put an end to his suffering. But fear holds him back, the specter of Nathan and James looming large in his mind.

David: (whispering) I'm sorry, Jamal... I wish I could help you.

As David watches helplessly from the shadows, Nathan and James finish their cruel task and leave the barn, leaving Jamal alone in his misery. The scene fills David with a sense of despair and frustration, knowing that justice remains out of reach for Jamal and others like him.

The camera lingers on David's face, capturing the conflict and turmoil within him. Despite his fear and uncertainty, a spark of determination glimmers in his eyes, a silent promise that one day, he will find a way to make things right.
