With great enthusiasm!

Special Agent Tim led the newly recruited Agent David to see the operations center he will be working from. But before he got there, he wanted to warn David of somethings to avoid doing in this Ops Center and what his training will be like.

“Before you see anything to excite you, you must know that there is still a chance of failing. You will not be going into the portal until at least a year training. Due to the **** intelligence, we pick when we are picking up potential recruits, the time it takes for other most known agencies to train agents is dramatically shortened. This is adding to the fact that there is nothing we can really do to prepare you for what you will see on the other side. We can mention how it feels to go through the portal, the tech you will bring with you and maybe any results we can gather before your mission there. PDA is a new agency, and it deals with alien tech and alternate worlds, only so much of it can go in a manual.

You will go on a shooting course, training how to use most common weapons if you ever need to use them in these new worlds. They could be extra harmless or extremely dangerous, best not take any chances. You will also hear stories of more experienced PDA Agents experiences in alternate worlds, but you will be reminded to know that you will be entering a new series of alternate earths. The agent’s may have been on worlds that differ from ours politically or even just geologically or numerous more but non were sexual until recently. Now we have arrived!”

The operations center turned out to an amazing sight to David. He walked up two flights of stairs leading into a rectangular room with one massive window facing the massive portal. It was big, the rim of the top of the portal being on level with the operations center. It was purple, deeply purple and had signs that looked more carved into the portal than anything. David didn’t have a clue what they were, he thought maybe that an ancient English language may have been based on this language but nothing that he knew. The portal wasn’t active, just idle as a row of miliary computers just behind the window with people talking and typing away at that suggested they may have been talking to a team on an alternate world, whatever type it was. There also seemed to be an identical operations center in front and to the sizes of this Ops Center, forming a square around the portal.

There were also graphs and charts filled with info that David didn’t have a clue about yet. But one thing that interested him was Earth P-342 to Earth P-345 on a computer with a check mark next to them as the people on the computers, most probably technical operators and intelligence analysts, sped around the room in a seemingly disorganized fashion.

Agent Tim showed him to the other three Ops Centers, finding them to be the same as the first Center, but in these centers, the Earth Codes changed from M with four numbers after it, C with three numbers after it and L with only two numbers after it. David asked Tim about this to which he replied “oh noticed that did you? Very good. It is our own cataloguing system for the alternate earths we visit. P is Political, M is Military, C is Cultural, and L is Lewd. So, Earth P-342 is the 342 alternate earth we have visited that has changed due to a political change, Lewd is so low as we have just found said coordinates and it is Lewd because S was already taken by Societal.”

David nodded his thanks, so now he knew that the alien database that the PDA gets these coordinates must tell of the general change in that world. He knew Tim mentioned that the new set of coordinated had been marked somehow, indicating it was sexual. David wonders if this portal has been just cataloguing ever since it has been left by the aliens who created it or if it had stopped around the same time? If it was the first option, it meant that the portal was connected somehow to the aliens still as the PDA only explored the coordinates already on the portal. But that is a thought for another day when he has more information and time in the PDA.

The rest of the tour was just where the entrance/exit was to the outside world, the kitchens, the showers, the bathroom and the psych office for if the field work becomes too stressful on the mind and he needs a person to confide in plus the quarters for all PDA Personal when off mission and on base. It was a small room, a lot smaller than his own bedroom back at home. It had two lockers and two medium sized drawers next to next to each other. The beds were bunk beds, clearly his new roommate wasn’t in, and David knew where, Tim had said that the PDA: SCU agents are on assignment now. It was apparently not uncommon to be working for a year in the field and not once see your roommate.

Agent Tim had left him at his room, after he had just picked a random room that only one person registered to it. He had given Tim an order to be ready for his first session of arms training followed by a session on stealth tactics, mentioning that it may be very useful or useless depending on the alternate earth he was on. Tim sat down on the bottom bunk and readily fell to sleep, exhausted by the surprising last few hours of his life that had changed rapidly but for the better, maybe now he may not be bored of living.
