What's going on with Hau?

Hau senses you approaching and returns them to their Pokeballs. "Ho!" he says to you, "Nice of you to make it! Me and my Pokemon have been waiting for ages! Did anyone tell you about what's happening tonight?"

Before you could respond, Professor Kukui and Lillie show up as well. "Sweet, we're right on time!" exclaims Kukui. Lillie asks him, "On time for what exactly?" Before Kukui can respond, you can hear Nebby squealing inside Lillie's bag.

"On time for the Pokemon battle part of the festival," answers Kukui, "We're gonna battle for Tapu Koko, to please him, yeah!"

Lillie asks you and Hau, "So does that mean you two are gonna be in the battle? I hope not, I don't wanna see Pokemon getting hurt, but if it has to be, then I'll watch."

Kakuna Hala joins the conversation and asks you for your Pokemon. You do so, and he gives each of them a Potion of some sort to heal them. "Now that they're healed, let's not waste on time talking" he says before leading you and Hau to the stage.

You can see a whole bunch of people cheering for the battle to begin. Kakuna Hala begins his speech.

"For all life on the islands and for those who undertake the island challenge with joy in their hearts, we pray for your protection, for them and all of Melemele." The other people nod.

"May this Pokemon battle be an offering to our island's guardian deity, Tapu Koko! Our battlers are my grandson, Hau..." Cheering can certainly be heard for him. "and [insert player name], the one that has met Tapu Koko" Not much cheering is going on, people question your presence amongst (I guess you're still a stranger to them, or maybe they find it weird that Tapu Koko likes you).

Your mom calls out to you, "Good luck son!"

Sudden silence is spread as both you and Hau get your Pokeballs ready. "As long as we both have a good time," Hau says to you, "then it'll be a great battle, eh?" You nod.

Kakuna Hala then roars, "Let the battle begin!"
