Chapter 3 by sir oppenheimer sir oppenheimer

What kind of study is it?

Well, with X-Change sponsoring it...

You slowly but surely read through all of the documents. You don't really have a choice in whether or not you accept everything right now, but you'd certainly like to know what you're getting into. There's a lot of legal disclaimers bogging down the relevant information, but you manage to pick out the important bits.

What you find shocks you to say the least. At a minimum, the school is trying to gather information about students to see how their gender affects their time in college. Lacking funding and willing participants for the study, they partnered with the X-Change Company to help fund and incentivize students to take part. You've heard of the company before, mostly through rumors. After reading the introduction to the company, you understand that the X-Change Company is a pharmaceutical company that specializes in a particular kind of chemical, one that rapidly and temporarily accelerates gender changes.

As for your part in the study, you read that you'll be compared to your siblings who previously permitted the school to use them as part of a control group for the study. To shake things up, however, you're expected to use the X-Change pills to change gender! You will have to live the next four years under the effects of the X-Change pill!

You've never thought about being a girl. You have no idea what kind of changes that would make to your life. Still though, you remember that without joining the study, you couldn't remotely afford to attend this school. You pick up the pen sitting on the table and shakily sign your name to the final page where your signature is requested.

Almost as if on queue, the door busts open and Chuck comes back in. You hear the lock on the door click as it shuts. "Is everything in order?" he asks.

"...Yes doc- Chuck." You stammer out.

"Great!" He responds. "Noting your signature on the paperwork below, and seemingly taking notice of your nonverbal hesitations, he follows up with "Remember, there's nothing permanent until your take the pill. It's no problem if you want to opt out until then." His reassurances help, but are overridden by your knowledge of your current situation.

He does the standard doctor thing: takes your height, weight, and blood pressure; has you fill out a personality profile and a pre-study survey; and takes a bit of blood for some testing back in the company's lab. Finally, the time comes.

Pulling out a key ring from his pocket, he unlocks a drawer just under the table and retrieves a single sheet of paper. "Here is the first choice you have to make towards the study. There are a number of added effects that our product can have to enhance your experience with them." He hands the paper to you. It seems to be another questionnaire of sorts. He explains further: "You can pick which enhancements you would like from this list, and I can give you the right combination of pills to make it happen. As a warning however, picking multiple enhancements generally increases the likelihood of unwanted side effects from the pills."

You get the general idea, and look through the list. You're surprised to see that they include the option of retaining your male genitalia and optionally include female genitalia. Nevertheless, you make your decision on the choices and hand back the sheet to Chuck. He looks over your responses then pulls a few different pill bottles from the same drawer he pulled the paper from. He takes everything over to a different counter with a scale and spends a few minutes measuring and mixing. He grabs a plastic cup from under the sink in the counter and fills it with water before mixing in several ground up pills. He brings it back over to you.

"Are you sure about everything?" He asks. You nod. He nods back. "Go ahead behind the partition and close it. Don't drink until I get our volunteer advisor in. It's better to have two people of both genders talk you through the changes. Since your current clothes won't fit you afterwards, you can put on one of the gowns." You oblige him and separate yourself from the rest of the room and start changing out of your clothes. You hear the door open and Chuck ask for an Emily, who you hear enter through the door a few moments later.

"To help protect your identity, we'll now call you Morgan Doe. Emily are you ready?" You don't hear a response from Emily, but Chuck carries on. "Morgan, when you're ready go ahead and drink." You pick up the cup and try to push all hesitation out of your mind.

It happens so quickly you don't even notice until there's an empty cup on the ground. "It's done." You try to call out, but you don't know how much of that was intelligible.

"There's a mirror against the wall. You will start changing within half a minute to a minute. Don't worry, changing has never caused any significant issues."

Significant issues? What about regular issues, you think. Still, you observe yourself in the mirror until your vision starts to blur. You feel your body radiate energy from the core outward. Your muscles feel... something? It doesn't hurt and it doesn't feel good, it just feels like your stretching everything all at once. You think you hear Chuck say something else to you, but you can't make any of it out. You nearly lose your balance and fall over, but by the time you recover and stand up straight again, the strange sensations have subsided and your vision has returned. You peer into the mirror to see what you have become.

What does the new you look like?
