Chapter 5 by vinaren vinaren

What's next?

Welcome to Storybrooke

The next morning, Henry woke up in disbelief.

He knew little about maternal love, but he understood that what they did last night certainly was not. A normal mother, no matter how she missed her child, wouldn’t commit **** such willingly.

Then he remembered the dream he had, and the wish he made before.

Is that the truth?

He murmured: I wish I can fly.

Nothing happened.

At that moment, Emma came out of the room: "Henry, what are you doing?"

"No... Nothing." He quickly changed the subject: "Mom, do you want to go to Storybrooke with me?"

Before coming to Boston, he has thought of many reasons to convince his birth mother, but now all of them were unnecessary. Emma touched his cheeks: “You don’t need to ask. I’ll never let you go again.”

Emma drove all night to the town. When she parked her car in front of Henry’s house, the door opened. A woman walked out, followed by a man in a police uniform.

Henry greeted the woman: "Hello, mother."

Regina ran out and hugged Henry: "Henry? Uh! Henry! Are you okay? Where have you been? What happened?"

Henry: "I found my real mom!"

Regina turned: "You're Henry's birth mother?"

Emma: "Hi."

The man noticed the atmosphere: "I'll.. just.. go check the lad, make sure he's okay..." Then he took Henry and ran like being chased by a wolf.

Regina: "I think we need to have a talk. How about my house? I have the best apple cider you ever tasted."

Emma: "Got anything stronger?"

Inside The Mayor's house, Regina took out a set of glasses. Shen poured one glass for Emma and one for herself. The two shared a drink, then she said: "I hope there's no misunderstanding here."

"I'm sorry?"

“Don't mistake all of this as an invitation back into his life.”

"Oh..."

"Miss Swan, you made a decision eighteen years ago. And in the last two decades, while you've been—well, who knows that you've been doing—I've changed every diaper, soothed every fever, endured every tantrum. You may have given birth to him, but he is my son."

"I was not..."

"No. You don't get to speak—you don't get to do anything. You gave up that right when you tossed him away. Do you know what a closed adoption is? It's what you asked for. You have no legal right to Henry, and you're gonna be held to that. So I suggest you get in your car, and you leave this town. Because if you don't, I will destroy you if it is the last thing I do. Goodbye, Miss Swan."

"Do you love him?"

"Excuse me?"

"Henry. Do you love him?"

"Of course I love him."

"Then trust me. I love him more than you do."

Emma drank the rest, placed her glass down, and turned to leave.
