Chapter 10
by alphakennyone
Where do we go from there?
We go out to eat.
By now the city is blanketed with a dark sky but the lights from all the casinos and hotels light up the Strip. Joey drives his Ferrari down the Strip all the way down to Downtown, which is Old Las Vegas. He parks in a parking garage and we take an elevator down to street level. Still holding me close like we are a loving couple, he leads me to a restaurant not far from the Old Las Vegas Strip. We enter and he requests a seating area where we couldn't possibly be disturbed and where we could possibly be sitting side by side. The waiter finds a spot with no people dining around us. Sitting side by side we look like a couple eating out. He also request for only one menu, which I am confused about.
The waiter gives us one menu and Joey immediately order one meal for himself and I, without asking what I would like to order. He also orders two glasses of wine. Like in the Asian man's room, he takes his arm and covertly wraps it around me now placing his hand firmly on my hip. I look directly at the hand placed on my hip and then turn to look at Joey's face. I ask him why all the touching.
"Joey?" I finally ask, saying his name.
He turns his head and looks directly into my eyes. I divert my eyesight off of his in embarrass amusement and then ask him, "Why all the touching?"
"Why, you don't like it?" he answers me with a question.
I stutter with a lousy unfinished and undecided answer. He stops me by taking his free hand and with his index finger shushing me from speaking another word. For some apparent reason, I become more attracted to him. For a second there, our eyes meet and then the next second we laugh at the same time.
Finally the order comes in with the two glasses of wine. Joey then asks for a toast. He lifts his glass and I lift mine and we both playfully call out things to toast for.
"Here's to a safe landing in Las Vegas."
"Here's to today and tonight."
"Here's to a girl who was disrespectful."
"Here's to a guy who was firstly disrespectful."
"Here's to a girl who was too slow to get out of a damn car."
"Here's to a guy who walks too damn fast."
"Here's to a girl who takes responsibility, strong-willed, and actually fun to be with."
Embarassed and chuckling at the same time, I finish with, "Here's to ... you."
We finally toast and somehow make a little, but strong bond between us. We end the meal laughing and adoring each other. We leave the same way we arrived: together. We get back to the parking garage and into Joey's car.
Where do we go from there?
