What's next?
Water Sight Spell
Aqua sat on her knees in front of a large pond trying to steady her breath. Her heartbeat calmly and her mind was clear. She looked into the water and saw her own reflection.
"Now remember Aqua," Aqua's teacher and Keyblade Master Eraqus said, "It's not about what you see, it's about what you know exists beyond what you see. Let the water show it to you."
Aqua spoke softly, "Reveal"
In response to her words the water began to gentle glow. Her reflection distorts beyond recognition into a blast of random colors.
"Concentrate, concentrate." Eraqus commanded, "let it flow."
Aqua squinted and the colors began to coalesce. A blurry image appeared. It was a blue and white castle in a green field with a river flowing through its front gate. Aqua concentrated harder and the image became clearer and clearer, but then suddenly vanished.
"Ahhh," Aqua exhaled before desperately gasping for air. She had come so close yet had still failed.
"Deep breaths," Eraqus said rubbing Aqua's back.
"I-I'm sorry master," Aqua said composing herself, "I couldn't do it."
"There's nothing to apologize for child," Eraqus rebuffed, "The focus and concentration required to master this technique can stump even a master such as I."
"But I was so close. I could almost see it."
Aqua smiled at the thought. Using just water and her master's guidance she had managed to gaze into another world. Something her and her friends Terra and Ventus had long dreamed of.
"Master," Aqua said standing up, "I'm ready to try again."
"No reason to be so anxious," the master replied, "Magic like this is precarious you need to be at full strength to even attempt it."
"Oh, I see," Aqua said disappointed.
Eraqus gave her an understanding smile, "get some rest Aqua. We'll try again tomorrow."
"Yes Master," Aqua sighed, "Tomorrow."
******
Water droplets felling from the faucet onto the floor was the only sound in the silent bathroom. Aqua, submerged in the warm waters of her bath, drank in the silence as her tired body healed. After getting back to her room she had considered going straight to bed, but now she was happy she had done this. it was SO relaxing.
"Hmmm,"
Yet Aqua still let out a depressing sigh. Her failure with the Sight Spell hung over her like a cloud of Darkness. Master Eraqus had only agreed to teach her because he believed she had the affinity to master it, but she had let him down. Aqua sank further into the water letting it swallow her mouth.
'I need to do better,' She thought, 'I have to.'
She closed her eyes and let her mind go blank like the Master had instructed her earlier. Droplets stopped falling from faucet and true silence ingulfed the steam filled bathroom. The water in the bath became still and clear. Without even thinking about it Aqua spoke the word.
"Reveal."
On que the water began to glow slightly. Aqua opened her eyes and was shocked to see the glowing light emanating from the tub. Like before her reflection dissipated and began to reform as something new. It was a blurry image of what appeared to be a tropical island.
"I-I didn't mean to do this," Aqua mumbled to herself, "I was just so relaxed, and it just came out."
The Keyblade weilder stared intensely at the mystic image before her. It appeared a bit clearer than the last time she had tried. Had being in the bath made it easier for her to cast the spell? As she questioned this unexpected turn of events Aqua noticed the imagine in the water begin to fade. It was probably for the best. Master Eraqus had told Aqua these kinds of spells were too complex to practice alone so she should probably stop here and report what had happened to the Master tomorrow. Perhaps he could apply some of it to her proper training. And yet.
"Reveal," Aqua said again. At her command, the waters began to calm, and the image became clearer. Aqua could now see buildings and other wooden structures on the island, but it was not fully clear.
"Reveal," Aqua said furrowing her brow. Again, the waters responded, and the image became clearer. Now she could make out the individual palm trees and water flowing from a majestic waterfall, but it wasn't perfect yet.
"Reveal," Aqua grunted putting all her strength and will into the word. The magical glow of the spell expanded to take up the whole of the tub and the water became as still as glass. Aqua looked and before her the island appeared as clear and bright as if truly before her. She could see the wind weaving through the leaves of the trees, birds flying through the air, and the waves crashing on the beach.
"I know this place," Aqua stated. "These are the Destiny Islands. Master Eraqus told me about them."
Aqua was astatic. She had done it. She had mastered this spell and met the expectations of her master. He would likely be cross at her for disobeying his orders, but he wouldn't be able to argue with the results. She had created a perfect window into another World.
"Amazing," Aqua said as she gazed down. "If only I could see them for real."
The second Aqua ended that thought the image vanished completely. She didn't even have the time to question what had happened before the entire tub started glowing with a mystical light that filled the whole of the bathroom. Aqua had to cover her eyes to protect her vision. Suddenly she could no longer feel the tub below her. She floated for a second before the cruel hand of gravity quickly pulled her down. Aqua barely had the time to take a breath before she was pulled all the way under.
When Aqua finally opened her eyes, she was no longer is her bathtub or even her room. She was underwater in a seemingly endless ocean. The Keyblade wielder looked around. Above her she saw nothing but darkness. She could tell it was the type of cold and empty darkness she had always been taught to reject. Below her was a bright light. The kind of warm comforting light you knew you could trust. Aqua didn't know what was happening but she did know what to do. It didn't make any logical sense, but her righteous heart told her it was right. She swam down as fast as she could. Further and further, she swam until she couldn't hold her breath much longer. Then Aqua saw the surface. She must have gotten turned around underwater! What she had thought was up was really down. Using the last of her energy Aqua swam even faster. Until she breached the surface and took the biggest breath of Oxygen she even had. She coughed desperately but was happy she had made it. With her breath steady Aqua wiped the water off her face before surveying her surrounded to determine where she was.
Where is she.
