Water Park

“Oh! There’s a water park!” Alexa said. “Can we go there?”

“Sure,” Carol said, smiling. “To Guppy’s Water Park it is!”

Carol drove while Alexa hummed to herself. Alexa giggled as she began to quietly sing. “Twinkle twinkle little star. How I wonder what you are… up above a world so high… like a diamond in the skyyy, twinkle twinkle little star…”

Carol had a twinkle in her eyes as she watched Alexa through the rearview mirror from the corner of her eyes as Alexa finished the song. “Wow, you have a really pretty voice,” Carol said.

“Thanks,” Alexa said, looking down. “Carol… do you… do you think people would ever be able to understand… my problem? I mean… my boss fired me as soon as he heard even a rumor of it… my classmates teased me… I feel like I’m trapped in this bubble. I’m so ashamed of myself.”

“Hey now. Some people… some people like to knock others down to make them feel better about their own insecurities. It has nothing to do with you. You shouldn’t be ashamed of who you are, Alexa. You’re such a beautiful girl and a smart one too. Not everyone could work around all that technology like you do. I’ve seen you work, and I’ve seen you do so much. I hope this place I’m taking you to can help too. You’ll be able to see that you’re not alone. And maybe make some friends who know your problem. And no matter what Alexa… I care about you. I promise you, I’m not going to abandon you. No matter what,” Carol said.

“Thanks,” Alexa said, satisfied with that answer as she leaned her head back. “And for the record, perhaps the reason not everyone can work around the technology like I do, is because they’re all grannies like you.”

Alexa stuck her tongue out and giggled. Carol smiled and laughed. “Well, I’m sorry I’m not a baby girl like you. Some of us have to mature,” Carol laughed.

Carol made a few more turns as she pulled into the parking lot. Alexa’s jaw dropped in surprise at what she saw. Grown women in swim diapers with their “mommies” and “daddies”.

Alexa had never seen anything like it. People were so open about it too. “Come on,” Carol said. “We can get you a swim diaper like that one woman over there. There’s a store right over there that sells swimwear. Maybe we can even get you some water wings.”

Alexa giggled. “Okay.”

Carol walked around back and took out a stroller. She set it down. “Do you want to use this?”

Alexa blushed and nodded. Carol smiled as she helped Alexa out of the car seat and into the stroller. Alexa giggled as Carol pushed her along towards the store.
