Chapter 5

Next Chapter: Welcome to Beacon Academy

Watch out for Vomit Boy

A few days after the failed robbery, Brian Scruffy was sitting inside this transport ship heading to a place called Beacon Academy. A school for young adults to become Huntsmen or Huntresses.

What was weird was the offer to join Beacon during the investigative interview days ago.

(The morning after the robbery)

Brian sat in a quaint little room that of course was your stereotypical interrogation room.

He knew this world wasn’t like the norm although there was always something new depending on his ‘travels’.

Glynda Goodwitch walked in with a no nonsense as she looked at Brian with only a glance before turning to her clipboard.

“Name, Brian Scruffy, no records show any person with that particular name anywhere. Age, according to him, early 20’s possibly 20 or 21. Gender… obviously male. etc. etc..”

Then she sat down opposite to him, put her hands together and looked him in the eyes.

“I’m sure you’ve already guessed that we’ve figured out the information you’ve given isn’t completely honest on your part. You apparently don’t exist and yet you continue to refrain from making it easier on yourself by telling the complete truth, Why?”

He looked at her with a neutral tone as if considering something.

“I have my reasons, sometimes I find myself in crazy situations in the most unlikely of moments… but I promise I’m not here to hurt anyone. I have no reason or want to do anything like that!”

She looked at him for a moment.

“I believe you at least are the too honest then necessary sort but you still won’t give out your real identity? That gives reasonable doubt.”

“Well then what’s your name?”

“Glynda Goodwitch”

He blinked before saying “Seriously?”

She nodded while he scratched his head.

Before the interrogation could continue however, another person stepped inside.

It was a man in green with grey hair and old fashioned looking glasses Benjamin Franklin would probably wear with a coffee cup in his hands carrying a plate of muffins.

Headmaster Ozpin of Beacon Academy that practically anyone knows… except Brian.

“Hello Mr. Scruffy, my name is Ozpin. I’m aware of the situation involving Roman Torchwick and your fighting alongside Miss Rose as well as your questionable identity. Tell me something, can you explain this?”

He pulled out what looked like a clear sorta device that reminded Brian of an I-Phone but a lot different. On the screen showed video footage of a golden orange cloud of dust bringing out himself on the box still barely asleep then waking up.

“I do hope you won’t mind if I asked how you did such a thing and why you appeared out of that unfamiliar cloud of golden dust almost like you woke up from a nap.”

Brian looked away and sighed before looking at Ozpin with a serious expression.

“Yes, I can… To simplify it, I’m not actually from this world. I travel to other worlds through my dreams…”

“Oh please…” Glynda said out loud unamused.

“Glynda, please! Please explain further Mr. Scruffy, your answer is rather interesting.”

To make a long story short, he explained his world traveling, his powers (that they were aware of and maybe a few more), his personal goal of being a hero, his inability to kill anything with his powers and also answered Ozpin’s questions to the best of his abilities.

Honestly, Brian was actually impressed with the man’s open mindedness and actually could tell Ozpin was being sincere.

He was pretty charming enough that Brian actually didn’t joke around with him but acted serious instead.

Of course, Brian had a few questions himself.

About Ruby, Roman, the mystery woman and what will happen to him.

He learned Ruby wasn’t in trouble and neither was he. Roman somehow managed to escape custody from the police while the mystery woman despite being knocked out of the air ship managed to get up and escape before Glynda could catch her.

(Brian figured she must be pretty strong to handle his weakest attack.)

Then while he ate a banana nut muffin from the plate Ozpin left. He was given an offer…

Become a possible Huntsman and aid a team as a support, if agreed then he could have his own living space, a library to help educate him on the world of Remnant and a sort of card to help him with food and living that would normally be used for the poor and or lacking.

If not then, Ozpin could help him find a job and living space in one of the surrounding kingdoms until his time here is over.

Of course, Brian immediately took the option to be a Huntsman under the condition that he won’t be reprimanded for not killing these Grimm, Ozpin told him about.

That was surprisingly alright with Ozpin despite Glynda’s annoyed groan.

….

(Present time: Back in the ship heading to Beacon.)

Brian smiled as he knew this new adventure was going to be interesting.

“BRIAN!!”

Including how he was going to enjoy getting to know Ruby as a friend and classmate.

He stood up and held himself up from a nearby upper railing as Ruby tackle hugged him.

Her blond haired sister Yang Xiao-Long, was staring at the two both amused and curious.

And while the two caught up which led to Yang meeting Brian, another passenger, a blond young man dealing with motion sickness started involuntary puked on the floor before running away from people.

Of course, he was dubbed Vomit Boy by Yang while Brian looked worried at the poor guy… until Ruby warned Yang about vomit on her shoe.

“Oh, Yang, gross! You have puke on your shoe!”

“Oh yup, looks like it…”

“Gross, gross, gross, gross, gross, gross, gross, gross!”

And of course getting close to Ruby made her freak out too.

“Get-Get away! Get away from me! Get away from me! Get away from me! Get away from me!”

Brian shook his head in amusement before pulling out a spare tissue he kept for some reason and calmed Yang down enough to clean it up for her.

‘Yeah, looks like this is gonna be fun, if at least a little messy.”
