Walk

Leanne had no idea how long she’d have to wait for either a bus or a taxi, and with the relaxed Caribbean timetable operating she could be waiting the rest of the afternoon. She began walking in the direction she’d come from that morning. Soon she arrived at what looked to be a small town, just on the edge of the tourist area.

There was a reason this place wasn’t shown in the brochures. It wasn’t the worst place she’d ever seen, but it wasn’t the nicest either. She guessed most of the locals who worked at the hotels and bars, servicing the spoilt tourists, lived in this part.

After strolling through the area for twenty minutes, trying not to draw too much attention to herself, she saw a large group of young men standing on a street corner. They appeared to be asking for work. Eager to get in on the lucrative action in the tourist section. Leanne suddenly felt quite nervous. She didn’t know whether to continue on her current path (and walk straight past the group of men) or turn down a side street and risk getting lost.
