Waking up. (Main path).

John's POV

"Stop!" you hear a male voice command

You stand up as the glow and residual energy fades. You seem to pass out and slide down the side of the ruined iceberg to Sokka and Katara, who lunges forward and catches you as you falls. Sokka pokes you in the head with the blunt end of his weapon.

"Stop it!" you hear a female voice say

She gently turns you over so that you are lying on your back. You slowly open your eyes.

"Can I ask you something." you ask in a weak voice

"What?" she asks

"What year is it?"

"It's 99 AG"

"Everyone I know is dead..."

"How'd you get in the ice?" he asks, poking you with the butt of his spear

"I-I... can't remember." you say, shaking your head

You gasps as a low, animal like noise is heard from behind you. You begin to frantically climb back up the ruined iceberg. You jump over the lip of what is in fact now a crater and land on a huge furry animal.

"Appa! Are you all right? Wake up, buddy."

Katara and Sokka come around the corner and their mouths drop in shock as the see the monster, whose mouth opens and licks you trying to wake him up.

"Haha! You're okay!" you say

You hug Appa, Appa occupies most of the crater left by the explosion. He is a huge flying bison with six legs and horns like a steer. He gets up and shakes himself off a bit.

"What is that thing?" the guy asks

"This is Appa, my flying bison." you answer, happy that one of your friends is still okay.

"Right. And this is Katara, my flying sister." he says sarcastically

You're about to reply, but doesn't as Appa begins to sneeze. You ducks in time as Appa proceeds to sneeze all over Sokka.

"Ewww! Aahh!!!"

Sokka, covered in snot, tries to get rid of it by rolling around on the ice and snow.

"Don't worry. It'll wash out." you tell him, with a laugh

"Ugh!"

"So do you guys live around here?" you ask, looking around

"Don't answer that! Did you see that crazy bolt of light? He was probably trying to signal the Fire Navy." He warns Katara

"Oh, yeah, I'm sure he's a spy for the Fire Navy. You can tell by that evil look in his eye." she tell her brother.

"The paranoid one is my brother, Sokka. You never told us your name." Katara says

"I'm.. aaaahhhh... ahhhhhh.... aaah aaah aaah AAAAAAACHOOOO!" you say, before sneezing

As you sneeze you zoom of the ground far into the air. You respond to her question after you lands to the whistling sound of a bomb dropping.

"I'm John." you answer, rubbing your nose

"You just sneezed... and flew ten feet in the air."

"Really? It felt higher that that." You joke, getting a cute giggle from Katara

"You're an airbender!" Katara gasps

"Sure am." you reply

"Giant light beams... flying bison... airbenders... I think I've got Midnight Sun Madness. I'm going home to where stuff makes sense." Sokka says, realising they are stuck in to middle of nowhere

"Well, if you guys are stuck Appa and I can give you a lift." You offer

You airbend yourself onto Appa's head, then to the top of his back where rests an enormous saddle. Reigns are attached to both of Appa's great horns.

"We'd love a ride! Thanks!" she says, getting onto Appa

"Oh, no... I am not getting on that fluffy snot monster." Sokka says, backing away

"Are you hoping some other kind of monster will come along and give you a ride home? You know... before you freeze to ?" Katara says to her stubborn brother.

Sokka starts to say something and gives up before he does. He sighs. You look back at Katara and Sokka in the back part of the saddle. Katara looks excited. While Sokka looks grumpy, arms folded across his chest.

"Okay. First time flyers, hold on tight! Appa, yip yip!" you tell them.

You shake the reigns and Appa makes a low rumble. He flaps his huge beaver tail and then launches into the air. He spreads his legs wide, but then comes right back down into the water with a huge splash. He begins to swim forward.

"Come on, Appa. Yip yip." you say, shaking the reins again

"Wow. That was truly amazing." Sokka says, sarcastically

"Appa's just tired. A little rest and he'll be soaring through the sky. You'll see."

You make a “soaring through the sky” motion with his hand, your eyes finally resting on Katara. You leave them there, a smile on your face as you look at her.

"Why are you smiling at me like that?" she asks you

"Oh... I was smiling?" you ask back

"Uuuuugh." Sokka moans, annoyed

You climb in the saddle and drift off into sleep.
