Chapter 109

What's next?
Waking Up, a Lawsuit, and a Match
When you wake up in the morning, the first thing you see is a text in the family group chat. It’s from dad, and it reads:
Hey Alex, mom and I just got a call from a lawyer in Stonewall. Wants to explore suing the Crawfish place for improper treatment of their foods, shouldn’t be a hard one to win. We think it’s a good idea, what do you think?
Huh. Objectively, you’ve always known that it’s been within your rights to sue, but it’s never occurred to you to actually do it. It feels vindictive to do it, but then again… money is money, and money will certainly help cut down on the mountain-load of debt that college is going to leave you with.
Gah. This is too complicated, the lights are bright, and you are definitely still hungover from the party last night. You groan, and roll out of your bed to go use the bathroom and maybe get a drink of water. The text lays to the side, forgotten about by the time you return.
What does catch your attention when you return is another notification—this one, an email sent by someone from the psychology department. Results From the Speed Dating Experiment! it declares, and you click in hurriedly, excited to see what came of it.
Good Morning Alex Knight, it reads, Thank you for participating in our Speed Dating Experiment (IRB Protocol Number: 26-24388). You indicated at the end of the first session that you would be most interested in being paired with {if ChooseAvril == True} Avril Mondragon {elseif ChooseAdriana == True} Adriana Vasquez {else} Amy McIntyre {endif}. We are pleased to inform you that she, too, stated her interest in being paired up with you! You can contact her at the following number:
You quickly scan through the rest of the email. Apart from {if ChooseAvril == True} Avril’s {elseif ChooseAdriana == True} Adriana’s {else} Amy’s {endif} number, it’s mostly some random logistics and fluff that falls out of your head as soon as you read it. Hm… you’re definitely not sober yet, but oh! It’s nearing 11 in the morning already, and there are things you need to do to go about your day.
You send {if ChooseAvril == True} Avril {elseif ChooseAdriana == True} Adriana {else} Amy {endif} a quick text hello, and get yourself dressed for the day.
